AUGUST 11th - Marcus Garvey Park, Harlem, Summerstage Fifty years ago, the legendary Stevie Wonder released his first single "Fingertips", which topped the Billboard Pop Singles and R&B charts and launched his career. In celebration of this seminal release, SummerStage and ImageNation present an evening dedicated to one of Wonder's historic music moments, his Soul Train performance. In this legendary episode of Soul Train, Wonder reinvents the Soul Train theme song. Dance, listen and watch with us as we remember this legendary Soul Train episode and celebrate 50 years of music by Mr. Stevie Wonder! MUSIC: Dj Spinna, Spins for the Soul Train Line! DJ Spinna is something of an anomaly in music. A humbling example of what it takes to truly succeed within the framework of multiple fields. With a steadfast work ethic, an obsessively extensive vinyl library and the willingness to pursue the full extents of his roots (Funk, Soul R&B and Jazz), foundation (Hip-Hop) and future (Electronic/Dance music) without any restraints. A cornerstone of Hip-Hop’s late 90’s indie-uprise, DJ Spinna made much of his first impression on listeners as the musical background of his group The Jigmastas (having released an impressive slew of 12” singles on his then self-run label Beyond Real during this time) as well as providing the canvats for an array of that era’s lyrical giants including Eminem, Mos Def, Talib FILM: Hotter than July, A Rare BBC Documentary on Stevie Wonder LIVE PERFORMANCES BY: Vivian Semmoms, Chris Rob, Asa Lovechild, Mika, Gloria Ryann and Darien all backed by Jessie Fischer & Soul Cycle Music Curated by INJOY ENTERPRISES!

“You know how they say everything happens when it’s time? Well I had seen Harlem singer/songwriter MiKA’s (@MiKAsoul) name floating around on the various social networks, but our paths had never crossed until recently. By then I had heard good things about her CD release, Confirmations, even saving it in my cart on the CD Baby site. Well fate has it that she graced me with her CD and I had a good chance to sit down and take a good listen. I was not disappointed. MiKA’s strong vocals and the jazzy tracks combined to create a musical treat. One of my favorites is U N Me featuring talented flutist, Monet. I was even surprised to see that she did a collaboration with poet Dexter “Wordsmith” Jones. Wordsmith and I used to belong to the same poetry group together a few years back, and I had the pleasure of doing a collabo with him. Small world. You should definitely check this CD out if you haven’t already. I know you won’t be disappointed. You can find it on CD Baby and iTunes.”
