“There are few things as invigorating as slow groove metal that can obviously trace its dark lineage back to Black Sabbath, but is by no means suffering from nepotism. The new Mammoth Thunderpower Ep exemplifies this description succinctly. Reminiscent of large yellow earth movers pushing, grating, pulling, loading, dumping, fucking, toxic sludge across Roger Miret's mythical landscape of Staten Island, the delightfully disgusting sound of nails on a chalkboard, slowed to 1 0000000000000000000 of a decimal, and inverted three times gives you a rough idea of how grand a sound can be created by fixing a "normal" guitar by removing two of the stupid strings at the bottom and wrapping them around the top two, thus thickening them in the way that corn starch at that shitty Chinese restaurant leaves the chicken and corn soup silky smooth, but thicker than you could ever make that fucker at home. Wait, was I supposed to review more than the bass tone?”
