Lost Carnival / Press

“Music is the interpretation of emotion, "Somebody get me a loud guitar, so I can ease the pain*," take that emotion and funnel it through 5 amazingly talented musicians and you get a larger-than-life, melodic rock n roll sound that is Lost Carnival. Originally starting out as the band Joker in 1978, guitarists Michael E. Coones and Derek Roberts have rejuvenated the sound in the form of Lost Carnival. After the tedious task of auditioning 17 different front men they came across their new frontman Matt Wilson, and finished off the line-up with Lance Hannah on Drums and Bruce Wilson on Bass. Lost Carnival has an 80’s style flare with a touch of the carnival life that was so anticipated in the 1800’s. They bring one thrilling, rock n roll filled extravaganza of… shall we say carnivalistic proportions to the stage, always delighting concert goers. Their self titled album is available at: www.lostcarnivalband.com, iTunes, CD Baby, and Graywhale. ”

“I was lucky enough to spend some time in the studio watching these guys. Absolute pros! When somebody like Mark Kendall keeps saying how impressed he is, you've got to listen! I'm going to guess Mark Kendall has spent hundreds of hours in the studio with hundreds of musicians- and to have him digging the music like he was really means something. His enthusiasm for the project was clear on his every interaction with the band, and I can promise you, that kind of enthusiasm can not be faked! When the band was recording in the studio he would stick up his arms like he was in the first row at his first concert. You had to see it! It's like you saw all of Michael's creativity finding the perfect medium with incredible musicians and world class production. Now we've got to wait for the final product!! Like Tom Petty says, "The waiting is the hardest part... " :)”

“Lost Carnival was a great album project for me to work on, on several levels. One of the things I really appreciated, was their musicianship and willingness to listen, and also their acceptance to change. To let go of any existing egos, isn't always easy. In Lost Carnival's case however it wasn't an issue, With this new record I believe from my heart they have put themselves on a new level, and I have no doubt in the future, it will only get better. I am proud to say that I was a part of this record! I feel very good about the songs and I see great things in the future for LC. Everyone in the band performed with a free spirit and probably did some of their best performances to date. It's always a welcomed experience for me to work with great people and become good friends. With Lost Carnival I can confidently say we are friends and at the same time in tune musically. Besides all that, we had an absolute blast and it doesn't get much better than that:-).”
