Lee was my best friend in High School. We used to "jam" in his basement every Saturday night when his mom and dad would go out dancing. I was kind of a roadie for Xanthus on a few occasions. I was stunned when I got a christmas card from Carol saying that he had died. Listening to all of these songs brings me right back to the feeling of awe I had for Lee's talent. Thanks for putting them here for me to listen to. I would love to get them in digital format to put them on my iPhone. Frank Orlando

We cannot escape the musical notes that desperately seek shelter. We collapse to your mastery with horns high! \m/

Lee Johnson changed my life. After spending one weekend in the fall of 1979 with Lee I made my largest life changing decision to date. I quit a very promising career in sports to start a band with him. One week earlier my long time best friend Mike Maxwell (Bassist) met Lee and invited me with my guitar and amp to jam with them which resulted in the creation of the band Xanthus. Drummers changed from first Steve Ellis, then female Liz Brosco, to finally Troy Keller. This final lineup went on to become the premier Rock band of Yakima Washington and heard here on the tracks The Caller, Runnin, Final Hour and She's Not Alone. After graduating high school Lee left to live with his aunt in L.A. Mike, Troy and myself continued growing as musicians and popularity in Yakima as the band Sheild. Lee was the most influential person of my guitar playing history. I will never forget and miss him greatly. Sincerely David Gregson (Web Slinger).

If Lee's family is interested, I have a recording of a live performance we did in 1982 at the Holiday Inn in Yakima, WA and would very happy to get a copy to you.
