"I work harder because of him," Kenia Arias says, smiling to keep the tears from welling up. "He’s so proud of me already for how far l’ve come." She’s speaking of her father, head of her close-knit Latin American family. The music dream almost came crashing down in the not-so-distant past for this young singer. It took her family’s support to help pick her back up, bringing her higher than ever. Her father had suffered a stroke. The timing for this unfortunate turn of events co-incided with the first live tour of her album "Karma," released in 2010. The singer had single-handedly orchestrated the upcoming tour, which she was then forced to cancel. "l had to call the dancers, the choreographer and everyone involved to tell them the project was on hold," Arias recalls. In the months after, her health suffered due to the stress.
