Sev's Cafe World Music Series presents Lakbay Lahi, Kaya Green Band and kayumanggi Pinoy rock band on Saturday July 27, 2013. Please invite all! Rooted in the rich sound art community of Dasmarinas, Cavite, Lakbay Lahi ("racial journey") fuses Filipino traditional instrumentation into original compositions that are at once melodic and deeply meditative. Constructing melodies in tribal scales, Lakbay Lahi's music expresses a journey of spiritual liberation. Kaya Green Band is the brainchild of Rudz del Rosario, former member of the Philippine national football team and current head coach of the Philippine Homeless World Cup squad. Coach Rudz uses the beautiful game to mentor and guide youths from economically disadvantaged communities to inspire others in building social consciousness towards sustainability. Kaya's original compositions project a vision of hope, triumph over hardship, and courage in the face of adversity. Come and be uplifted! kayumanggi Pinoy rock band is my search for and exploration of a Filipino cultural identity in the context of a global community of cultures. kPr's lineup in Manila always includes some really marvelous musicians I am honored to be associated with, including Erick Calilan on drums and Jonjie Ayson on bass. We'll be joined by Anna Marie Santos on flute, Aleck Palmero on kahon and percussion, and Bernadeth Perez Rentoy on female vocal. This promises to be a truly moving evening of fantastic music. I'm honored to be sharing the stage with musicians of such stature. I hope to see you at Sev's. - Kokoy Severino Sev's Cafe World Music Programmer kayumanggi Pinoy rock band P200 at the door (P100 consumable) Sev's Cafe is located in the basement level of Legaspi Tower, 2600 Roxas Boulevard, at Ocampo (also known as Vito Cruz), directly across from the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
