“K2 returns after a six-year absence – and they return with an exceptional work of power, beauty and amazing production. The band of new vocalist Josh Gleason, Ken Jaquess – bass and keyboards, new superb guitarist Karl Johnson, Ryo Okumoto (Spock’s Beard) – keyboards and Doug Sanborn – percussion, create a near perfect blend of everything that a Progressive Rock fan could want. The compositions are a nod to early Genesis and Yes, but they are not copyists – the melodies are modern takes of those styles. So we have seven melodic songs, all between six and eleven minutes save one short two-minute piece. And the songs weave through interesting time changes and dynamics. Piano flourishes will suddenly appear amidst heavy bass and drums; a busy but melodic guitar solo will blaze from a build-up of mounting volume; keyboards attack with the fury of Keith Emerson and then become more delicate like Tony Banks and the bass playing can have a Chris Squire sound, its heaven!!”
