Josh Netsky / Press

“Reverby vocals give "The Spirits" a dream-like quality, but a military march propels the song forward - alternately staggering through a hazy psych-folk fog and bouncing along on plucked banjo notes. Rochester NY's Josh Netsky is brand new to me, but I can't get enough of this song.”

“Josh’s 10-song album, The Sprits, is inspired by ghost towns born of the collision of people and their overzealous civilization: The Russian city of Pripiyat, closed following the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. The Niagara Falls toxic-waste neighborhood known as Love Canal. The accompanying 25-minute film of the same name was shot by Adam, and focuses on the four ghost towns that they did visit. Most alarming of those is Centralia, a small town, now virtually abandoned. Deep below its streets and schools, a coal-mine fire has burned since 1962, with temperatures reaching an estimated 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit, releasing lethal clouds of carbon monoxide and other gases.”
