John Thomas was invited to be one of three judges for the 2012 Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition. John's 50+ years of jazz piano experience plus watching the jazz genres evolve over the years was the background wanted by the City of Jacksonville (FL) to help judge up-and-coming talent. Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition has been a tradition for more than 20 years. Five finalists, chosen by a selection committee through "blind" judging, will compete for the honor of this award, a cash prize and the chance to perform during the 2012 Jacksonville Jazz Festival. The historical and beautifully appointed Florida Theatre stage will serve as the pitch-perfect venue for this annual competition.
