Joe Gaspar Band / Press

“Ottawa’s Joe Gaspar Band is a power Blues/Rock trio, put together by singer/songwriter/bassist, Joe Gaspar, whom I had the privilege of seeing, hearing, and chatting with at Ottawa’s Tulip Festival this past Saturday evening. The show was comprised mainly of selections from their CD, a few creatively enhanced covers, and some brand spanking new original material, to be released on an upcoming CD. Think Hendrix meets Cream meets Zeppelin, rich in heavy Blues, with a touch of King Crimson prog, and you’ve got the Joe Gaspar Band. But what makes their sound so unique for me, are Gaspar’s dynamic higher pitched, operatic-flavoured vocals winding through the music, which I would describe as David Byron, Jack Bruce, and a hint of Robert Plant, all rolled into one. In just a few short years, they have gained popularity at a rapid pace, with their heavy Blues/Rock formula and refreshing sound. Check out their website and get out to see this band…you’ll thank me for it!”

“The Joe Gaspar Band is one of my favorite acts that I bring into my establishment, Joe's voice and music is second to none! He always brings his crowd of music loving fans along with his killer music and professionalism on and off the stage, not only a great musician but a great guy! JGB is a mainstay at Moose McGuire's.”

“The Joe Gaspar Band is a fantastic power trio. They remind me of the golden days from the British Invasion era, but adding their own take that makes this music timeless. Joe is one of the greatest vocalists this city (Ottawa) has heard!”

“A strong influence and feel for the blues/rock of the late '60s & early 70's with originals that blend right into the mix. Joe Gaspar sings with a powerful clarity that will offer chills. Get out and see'em, this is a Power Trio that must be experienced!”

“Today’s audio podcast features hot Ottawa power-blues trio JOE GASPAR BAND – including one of the best vocalists in rock and blues North America has today. Listen to a great set of professional studio&live recordings on ReverbNation or read the band’s profile. My friendship with Joe Gaspar, the band’s leader (vocals and bass), goes back to 1993 in Transylvania. At the time, I was promoting good music as a live FM radio jock, while Joe worked hard as a musician in another superb trio, QUO VADIS.”

““One of the most exciting parts of the Ottawa Blues Society’s Road to Memphis competition is the opportunity to see local musicians develop from year to year. Joe Gaspar and his band are a great example … from the 2010 entry with the band then called ‘Union Jack’ to the 2011 entry of the Joe Gaspar Band, we saw a band improving in every way – tighter, great vocals, better choice of material and innovative original lyrics. Our Road to Memphis judges were particularly impressed with the vocals and wanted to hear more. Of the Joe Gaspar Band originals, my personal favorite is ‘Shame’, particularly the sincerity of the lyrics emphasized by the heartfelt vocals and sweet guitar solos.””
