Rothman's Gallery in Southold will be having a Gallery opening reception for John Wissemann who has had a long career as painter, printmaker, and teacher of art. Also on display in the gallery will be works by Stacy Brandfon and Ron Rothman both of whom have studied with Wissemann at different times his teaching career. A teacher since 1953, he was adjunct professor at Southampton College, Long Island University, where Stacy studied with him and at Southold Union Free School, where Ron took art classes with him. He has been an inspiration to numerous artists, along with a whole generation of Southold Students, who had him as an Art teacher. Wissemann has shown his work in group and solo exhibitions around the country for over thirty years and received awards from the American Watercolor Society, New York; the Washington, D.C. Watercolor Society; and the Silvermine Center in Norwalk, Connecticut. His work is included in private and public collections throughout the United States. John Wissemann has retired from teaching to concentrate exclusively on his painting. He currently divides his time between homes and studios in Southold, New York, and Cushing, Maine. The show will be in the gallery through Jan. 20th. The opening reception will feature Live music with Southold Slim and the Park Avenue Gypsies along with special guest Job Potter.
STANKO returns to ART in Southold and we will be hosting a gallery reception and Opening of this special show. We will also be showing the work of Lisa A. Dabrowski and Mary Dabrowski, mother daughter artists who have spent their lives on the East End. Live concert by Caroline Doctorow and the Steamrollers with special guest Pete Kennedy. Also appearing will be Job Potter and Friends.
