For the 16th consecutive year, and our fifth at the fabulous rural location of Coombes, this popular festival will again bring sleepy Sussex to life in June 2011. As usual the event is organised by the founders of Glastonwick, namely legendary local punk poet and musician Attila the Stockbroker and international cask beer advocate Alex Hall, with a little help from their friends. As in previous years, we promise you a weekend of enormous quantities of delicious real ale (including many new brews as usual), farmhouse cider, perry, and top quality entertainment. Frequent trains run to Shoreham from Brighton, Worthing (both only 10 minutes away by train) and other stations along the West Coastway Line. From there, jump on our special shuttle bus linking the festival with Shoreham Railway Station and The Duke of Wellington (plus one daily inward journey from Portslade and back to Brighton at closing time). Camping is offered on site for only £5 per night (Friday and Saturday). Note you MUST book in advance if you wish to camp on site. Attila writes... Well, I know I always keep saying this, but I think I’ve put together the best entertainment line up ever for our 16th Glastonwick, and I know Alex will be scouring the world to bring you loads more interesting new beers! And we’ve kept the prices the same as last year – still surely one of the best value festivals around, especially on the Sunday when if you just come for the day you can see Otway and Robin Ince (and lots more) for a FIVER, which is completely nuts! :) And as always there’s the shuttle bus, the tractor rides for kids (weather permitting) - and thanks to our friends at the Ropetackle Centre we are no longer Luddites and can offer online ticket sales as well as through Dark Star Brewery's four pubs. OPENING TIMES: Friday 3rd June: 6pm to midnight; Saturday 4th June: 12 noon to midnight; Sunday 5th June: 12 noon to 6pm. BEER, CIDER, FOOD, MORE BEER... * 70 cask-conditioned ales, all from small independent breweries - mostly unusual but with a few 'old favourites'. * About 25 farmhouse ciders and perries. * Quality food. Note this year the caterers are different from before, there will be a variety of great food (including veggie & vegan) at reasonable prices. Also breakfast for campers.
