Singer, Songwriter and recording artist Jen de Ness, is a vivacious entertainer who delights audiences worldwide with her ability to sing everything from beautiful blues to sultry Latin, smooth jazz to slick swing and fun jazz cabaret. Jen’s smooth, soulful and velvety vocals are well loved alongside Jen’s ability to entertain and connect with her audience. Jen plays with some of the world’s finest musicians from duo through to Septet, to inspire an array of original songs alongside arrangements of jazz standards for your listening pleasure
Based in Perth, Western Australia, Jen has been singing professionally and songwriting for over 20 years. Jen’s varied taste in music is shown in her songwriting ability, and Jen has penned over 60 original tunes in various genre from Jazz to French Cabaret, to blues, soul, folk, country and jazz chill out; where at times Jen joins forces with guitarist and fellow composer, Bill Atkinson who recorded Jen’s first song at ABC Studios in Perth in 1992. Jen and Bill own Ocean Studios where they are currently recording Jen’s forthcoming CD entitled “See things like You” , to be launched at Ellington Jazz Club Perth on June 9th.
Jen has taken several short music trips over the years in duo to Europe and the UK playing at various venues. In 2014, Jen toured alone to London with charts in hand to meet up and play with local London musicians.
Over a 6-week period Jen made appearances singing with trio through to quintet arrangements at various clubs and pubs including Crazy Coqs & Vortex Jazz Clubs, alongside plenty of jazz jams at pubs with London musicians. These shows culminated in Jen staging her original jazz cabaret show at Pheasantry Pizza Express Club in Chelsea with Joe Bickerstaff on Grand Piano and Jason Simpson on Double bass to an enthusiastic London audience.

Jen performs regularly closer to home for corporate events, festivals and clubs. Currently playing in Jen de Ness Jazz (from solo through to Septet with Saxophone) and de Ness Sextet (guitar,Violin & Cello) , Jen is also very popular in either piano duo or guitar duo and delights audiences at various long-term Jazz Duo & Trio residencies including Vic Hotel, Albion, Fig restaurants, Mojos, Creatures Loft & Mindarie Marina. Also venues such as Ellington Jazz Club, Subiaco Theatre, Mandurah Performing Arts Centre, Kulcha Club, Laneway Lounge, Perth Concert Hall, Fly by night Club, and Paris Cat Jazz Club in Melbourne and La Boheme & Nexus Arts in Adelaide.
Jen de Ness and her partner Bill Atkinson have produced various CDs including 3 all original CDs, “Storyteller”, “Voice of Soul” (with a 20 piece women's choir conducted by Jen) & “Give Your Heart” (which was a not for profit CD with all the proceeds going to the National Heart Foundation)
“See things like you” is due for release in June 2016 and features 10 Australian Jazz and classical and contemporary musicians playing mostly Jen’s original compositions.
Jen and Bill have also started recording their first Dance Groove Jazz CD entitled “Just Gets Better” due for release in late 2016/2017.

Perth based Jazz Singer, Songwriter & Cabaret performer Jen de Ness celebrates the release of her original "See things Like You" CD.
Jen de Ness returns to the Ellington with fellow composer Bill Atkinson, to present another entertaining night of original jazz cabaret of sweet bossa nova, zesty tango, sultry Latin, soulful blues, beautiful ballads, and smooth jazz and swing tunes. A fantastic line up of classical, jazz and contemporary musicians bring these songs to life alongside the wonderful Adelaide based Jazz pianist and MD, Bruce Hancock.
The diverse mix of the de Ness/Atkinson compositions and Jen’s originals are arranged for different combinations from trio to Septet. Slick guitar led tunes are supported by the dynamic violin and cello lines of Ashley Arbuckle and played in sextet/septet to include vocals, double bass, percussion and piano. The second group of songs contains mostly Jen’s originals alongside a few jazz favorites, with the piano trio led by Bruce Hancock with support from guitar, saxophone, and percussion. Add to this Jen’s smooth, soulful and velvety vocals, the uplifting de Ness/Atkinson harmonies and Jen’s ability to entertain and connect with her audience, and you have a show and CD filled with much love, joy, fun and a celebration of life through original music and storytelling.
This CD Launch begins a National/International tour of “See things like you” show and CD for Jen, who is joined by the Bruce Hancock Trio with Bruce as MD & pianist for the shows and support from slick Adelaide and Melbourne Jazz musicians.
