Jemma is an accomplished musician who can write and compose music across a diverse range of styles. Although much of her solo music maintains itself in the singer/songwriter contemporary/jazz genres, as like many musicians, she finds it hard to pigeon hole herself.
A guitar virtuoso with a classical background, and over 25 years of playing experience, Jemma is also proficient in jazz, improvisation, rhythm and percussive techniques. Although the nylon stringed classical guitar is her preferred instrument, she is also proficient on the steel string acoustic and electric guitar.
Other skills include vocal performance, with a developed sense of harmony, drums and percussion, violin and piano. She can also play mandolin and banjo. Jemma is also rather skilled at composing and arranging using Sibelius software. Her latest EP “JLD” includes songs composed and arranged on Sibelius, including complex vocal harmony and semi orchestration. She has also been utilised as a session musician for many live and studio performances for Vox Studio on the Gold Coast.
Jemma has also had the rare and unique opportunity to perform live lead guitar in the Gold Coast circus production "Lumiere" for the Wheel of Danger act.
Jemma has been shortlisted in the 2014 Australian Independent Music Awards twice in the Alternative category and once in the Live category. She has also been shortlisted in the open and ballad categories for the 2014 Australian Songwriters Association awards and the folk category, plus a top 30 position in the instrumental section of the 2015 awards.
Jemma has three recorded works. A full length album "Touch Wood" released in 2014, an 8 track charity EP "When Tomorrow Comes" from 2015 and her latest jazz EP “JLD". All of her music is available for purchase and streaming on Bandcamp as well as the usual online stores such as iTunes and Google Play.
She is also a member of an acoustic trio; Everybody Love Everybody, with her brothers Rowan and Mathew. Their music is found on YouTube and Soundcloud.
