NOTE: THIS SHOW HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED FROM JULY 1 NOW TO JULY 7. Jason Floyd Hatcher is appearing as a special guest player for Claire Campbell of the Athens band "Hope For Agoldensumer" as she performs following the film screening of the new "Blaze Foley: Duct Tape Messiah" documentary. http://www.blazefoleymovie.com/ Blaze Foley is one of the greatest songwriters that you've probably never heard. A subtle yet at times riveting legend amongst fellow performers from Georgia to Texas and beyond, Blaze Foley left behind a nearly lost and forgotten legacy of sonic art for all the world to now enjoy decades after his death in Austin, Texas in 1989. Thanks to the work of director Kevin Triplett and the release of the new musical documentary entitled, "Blaze Foley: The Duct Tape Messiah," Foley's unpredictable, sometimes funny and at times tragic life is made immortal within the stories and tales captured on video amongst his friends and family. A contemporary and personal friend of Townes Van Zandt, Blaze Foley departed the Atlanta area to paint the streets and juke joints of Austin, Texas during the late 1970's. Leaving in his wake equal crowds of fans, admirers and those who may have even feared the man. But one thing's for certain. Even those who may have disliked Blaze Foley were left eventually with a deep respect for his heartfelt songs. Foley's songs have been covered by artists ranging from John Prine to Merle Haggard to Willie Nelson. Haggard noted that Blaze Foley had written the best song he'd heard in 15 years just before his recording session for that very song entitled "If I could Fly." The film's director Kevin Triplett has been touring the United States steadily for the past several months screening the documentary for eager fans at music venues and film festivals alike. Kevin now makes a rare stop in Georgia this week on Friday July 1 in Athens and Saturday July 2 in East Atlanta to present the Blaze Foley documentary. Come out and experience the memory of a musical legend who spent time living and performing in the Atlanta area. Proceeds of the film go to charity to help the homeless. View the official film trailer here: http://www.blazefoleymovie.com/ Or visit the official website at: http://blazefoley.com/ For more information and directions to the venue, please visit: http://www.flickertheatreandbar.com/events.html
