Hispaniolove is a unique production that borrows the concept plot of Romeo and Juliet intertwined with spoken word poetry. The feud between the two families is the inequalities between Haiti and Dominican Republic. It tackles the socio-political struggles of Haitians and their bittersweet relationship with sister island Dominican Republic. The story revolves around two lovers living in the midst of this bigotry. They decide to ride the wave of love to defy their entire social world. The story will also preserve both historical and cultural content of the island of Hispaniola. The stage play is a medium to help communities embrace diversity, unity and the fine line between love and hate.
