Irata / Press

“Ah, now here is a band who will really melt your face off and collapse your head in. With so many cookie-cutter scene bands with cookie monster vocals, it’s hard to cut through the unbearable dross and find good new music. You may be wondering if anyone really knows the way to rock anymore? IRATA from Greensboro, NC (or just known as ‘the boro’, as my friends from down that way tell me) not only know the right way to rock; they are fully unconcerned with the trends of today. This two-man operation make raw, unrelenting rock music that grooves when it’s supposed to, crushes when it needs to and will leave you wanting more... Grade "A" ”

“Irata - Irata Review by John Pegoraro (StonerRock.com) Release date: 2009 ... they'd be the benchmark for comparison. To me, that puts Irata in a league of its own. The three-piece is on the more technical side of instrumental psychedelic rock, but never so much that their musical prowess gets in the way of conveying warmth or losing an organic quality. Take “Baby's Breath,” for example. This track, with it's crisp bass playing and frequent crescendos, brings to mind post Undertow Tool, except Irata never comes across as cold and calculating, as if they're using a proven algorithm for rock. And that's just one of Irata's ten numbers – and not even the best of them (that would go to the beautifully titled “Clown Rehab,” with “Angel's Share” and “Drunken Dwarf” coming in second and third, respectively). What's even more impressive is the fact that the songs are so layered... All in all, this is an excellent release. Recommended. ”

“The thunderous kick-snare-hi-hat smack on “Infinite 8,” opening track on IRATA’s eponymous debut,”

"This is definitely one of the most creative heavy progressive-instumental albums thus far in 2008... 4-1/2 out of 5. Heather Mac

Heather Macintyre - Yes Weekly: Greensboro, NC.

“Fantastic! ....Irata is a work that explores infinitely outside the box of what music can be, yet, is typically not done." -Brian Tucker ”

Brian Tucker - BootLeg Magazine: Wilmington NC

"Here on their debut album, Greensboro, NC rockers Irata have made themselves strong contenders for the best progressive rock band in the state... 4-1/2 Jesters out of 5
