il Troubadore Klingon Music Project / Press

“For those who didn’t attend ConGlomeration in Louisville last week, possibly its last, they missed a great opportunity to meet with science fiction and fantasy enthusiasts. They also missed an awesome performance of a Klingon ballet by il Troubadore. As an encore, il Troubadore performed “Freebird,” the Lynyrd Skynyrd rock anthem. Although they didn’t do it in Klingon like the rest of the performance, they’re learning the southern rock classic, a band member told them. I reminded them, “You haven’t heard ‘Freebird’ until you’ve heard it in the original Klingon.””

“Have you ever been in an Indian restaurant when a band was performing songs from that region? What about a party with some belly dancers? Then you might have seen a band like ilTroubadore. The Indianapolis collective has been running the gamut of world music since 2004, playing everything from Chinese operas to Irish folk music to their own unique take on Metallica. What you probably haven't seen is ilTroubadore, belting out Klingon war songs in the alien dialect familiar to fans of “Star Trek.””
