“ Governor’s Chair melds influences from the radio-friendly rock canon on its new album–hints of The Doors (“Black Highway”), Hootie & The Blowfish (“Joy”), and Rolling Stones (“I’m In Love With Rock and Roll”) run throughout–which makes for a competent, straight-forward addition to the local musical landscape. The album is full of barroom rockers (ZZ Top should cover “Texas Strut”), and it’s evident that the band–bassist/vocalist Charlie Earthman, drummer Joe Earthman, and guitarists Charlie Chavira and James Noles–are solid musicians. Noles and Chavira play as good as nearly anyone on classic rock radio and Noles' vocals have a familiar, hearty inflection that helps keep the songs from getting bogged down lyrically......it’s easy to imagine the band’s live sets making for an enjoyable afternoon at your local ice house. -David A. Q: Do you think the excitement surrounding the Curiosity rover landing on Mars will renew interest in the space program?

A: I really hope so. Exploration of our neighboring planets can hopefully give us some clues about whether life existed there and help us to better understand how life evolved on Earth.
