She is happily married to celebrity spoken-word artist, J.Walker, and lives in Southern California. TOPIC FOR SECOND HALF: The 360 Degree Songwriter - The WHOLE-istic Approach to Becoming a Hit Maker Learn how to look at the song and your career WHOLE-istically, what Gilli coined the “360 degree view”. Also let’s analyze the song structure of some of today’s Top 10 tastemakers, what makes a song commercially successful, and what you need to do to make your song, a hit song. The term ‘hit song’ often gets a bad rap amongst the independent music scene, but for better or worse, it can jettison your career. We’ll look at that reasoning together, and whether you’re up to playing the game to be successful in the music business today. · Please bring your BEST song for critique. What you think is a HIT. Play live or on ipod/CD. Be ready and open for group comment. · Also Gilli is looking for songs for her next Sync It! Compilation Project. She’ll take an interest in songs from members in the group. · All attendees get 50% off her upcoming BOOK, (of the same title as workshop), which is out in November. Pay at the workshop $15 instead of $30 for a half price advance purchase. ********************************* RSVP IS MANDATORY TO PARTICIPATE and conditions apply. 1. WORKSHOPS Our guest speakers represent all facets of the industry from A&R, publishers, successful producers, CD production and distribution execs and, of course, writers and composer who share their ideas, tips & techniques on all aspects of the songwriting craft. Some topics include song structure, song production, lyric writing, finding inspiration, songs and the media, promoting your music online, how to tour, how to get songs in film and television, performing at your best. Our workshops are designed for songwriters and composers (from budding to professional) who have written songs, or are in the songwriting stage, who want to further their craft, gain feedback on their music, and potentially get their songs out to the world. However, we also have singers, musicians, and non music types who attend as it's a great networking opportunity (singers looking for songwriters, or musicians looking for songs, as examples). The goals of the workshop are about 1) the SONG and making it the best it can be 2) providing a community for our members to gather, network, collaborate and learn. ********************************* SONGSALIVE!
