The London Olympics have proved that you can achieve anything if you work hard enough. Therefore we have come out of semi-retirement in an attempt to relearn our instruments (and songs) to step onto that podium. Or some sort of stage. Kicking off our set at 10:15pm, make sure you get there early to check out the other acts and get boozed up before we begin. If you're eager to commit let us know and we'll chuck you on the cheap list. Depending on our mood, we'll either sound like Jessica Ennis crossing tha t finish line or Wheelchair Rugby. Or both. We played here before back in March, and if we're honest we didn't know what to expect when we arrived. But it ended up being one of our best gigs and we were determined to play here again asap. Great atmosphere in there, and full of music hounds and geeks due to a Music Tech College being just over the road. Really looking forward to this one. Bio: We are Getaway. We are a three piece band and we've invented a new fucking genre. It's called Riff Rock. If you want to know what Riff Rock sounds like buy a Black Keys album. And listen to it. If you like that, have a chew on the weighty stuff by Band of Skulls. Still with us? Give The White Str...See Full Bio
“Through my many years as a musical connoisseur and journeys of discovery I have acquired a taste for more eclectic stylings and more obscure artists. But occasionally the timeless combination of guitar, bass and drums will rescue me from the possibility of disappearing up my own arse. And the latest addition to my generic mp3 player, sends thoughts of electronic noodlings scurrying with its rollicking rock'n'roll sound. The Essex and London based three-piece, Getaway released their 6 track mini-album, IC, earlier in the summer, following on from their debut EP last december. It unabashedly ploughs its influences from a fertile field of rock history repeating itself, delivered with a no-nonsense policy. Recorded and mixed entirely in a garage in Waltham Abbey, it is a very true representation of a down-to-earth band that i have keenly watched flourish since their very first gig last March.”
