“Being asked to perform the theme song from one of his all-time favorite Westerns was humbling. Being asked to sing in front of fans who loved “Gunsmoke,” actors who were on the set and the family of the show’s late star was downright intimidating. But Gary Lee Tolley, a King George County resident who has made records in Nashville, put on his cowboy hat and got through the “daunting” experience. He was in Dodge City, Kan., last month to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the TV series, which ran from 1955 to 1975. All the attendees were great fans of the show, and it was a real thrill to see them enjoying the moment. The applause at the end of the song was fantastic! He was especially touched to hear from family members of James Arness, the tall actor who towered over TV sets—and the bad guys—as his character, Marshal Matt Dillon, kept law and order in the rough-and-tumble town of the Old West. The two-day anniversary included panel discussions, a rodeo and lots of time fo”

“Gary Lee Tolley's New Song, "Hey Bartender" Hits the #1 Position on 2/3/15!! 1 NEW Gary Lee Tolley - Hey Bartender CD: NightLife (Indie)”

“Gary Lee Tolley is artist of the week by www.radio-medusa.nl every hour you can hear his song "Take Me Away To The Islands"! 12-28-14 Thank You a Million Tony Haag, What an Honor, I deeply appreciate your playing my music and sharing it with the world!! You are the Best!!”

“I'm already a fan of Gary Lee, I reviewed his "Nightlife" album some time ago, and was convinced then that this young man definitely has a way with words, and that makes him a special tunesmith. This first song on this album "Storm Coming Over The Mountain" utilizes some incredibly good sound effects depicting a storm. I've heard this utilized before to emphasize the song and it's contents, but never done quite so well. As I listened I was sure someone was speaking to me, but removal of the head phones proved otherwise. It's voices in the background that actually stimulates one to listen again. All of these songs are Gary Tolley originals. He's from Virginia, and has an amazing ability to 'see' and "Music In My Soul" is a good representation of how that particular soul-function works. I also like "Ooh La La" which opens with just a guitar riff that turns into a blistering boost of melodic sound with harmonica that tends to sound Cajun in style. Read The rest at the link below!”

“Gary's got a super good country voice, and he's a super good writer. I especially liked "Drift" which is a timeless story song about 'on the road' pursuing the American Dream of trying to be successful in the music business. It's getting more and more difficult these days, but there's a nice piece of harmonica on this song played by Mike Schrimpf that helps us keep our focus on what 'real' country music is 'really' all about. That's what I like about this CD, Mike goes right into the next intro to "Lonesome Hobo Willie" with a fine mellow harmonica lick that fits just fine. Gary issincere on another of his originals, "Gold Ring On Her Pillow," a sad song to be sure. These songs are all 'story' songs, exactly what country music has been about all these many years, and exactly what country music at the top-40 level is missing. My favorite is "Sing A Country Song" quite frankly because I'm so disappointed in so-called 'country' music today on top-40 radio.”

“Gary Lee Tolley's New Single, "Flirtin With The Devil" From the "End Of The Road" CD Rockets to #1 in its First week on the Charts!”

“Gary Lee Tolley a man that made his dream comes true! A lot of people compared his voice to big stars and legends like Kenny Chesney, Roy Orbison or Elvis Presley, but he wasn´t a copy of them. He was his own maker, his own personality and he made his own kind of music. In between real country music and blue grass, you could spread it in a lot of directions. That made him so special and the fact, that he wants to tell a story with his songs and give it a touch of funny tale. He is a real storyteller, with a warm and pleasurable voice. Of course he was influenced by other artist like Hank Williams and Elvis, but he created the country singer Gary Lee Tolley by himself. Gary´s Cd release made him appear in Nashville, where he recorded with the best musician, he could find. He produced “Thanks A Lot”, his 5th CD project. Now he is on his way again to the Music City Nashville to record his 5th studio CD. He already made 6 music Cd´s and a Christmas CD at home. Visit the Link To See”

“Citing influences like Hank Williams and Elvis, country musician Gary Lee Tolley is a storyteller with a peaceful and welcoming voice. Whether he is singing about that "Redneck Weekend," or pining for the "Hills of West Virginia," it is evident that the former Army man and current Virginia resident is most at home with his music. Graffiti: What attracted you to music in the beginning? Was it a family thing or did you find music on your own? Tolley: Performing music was not part of growing up in my immediate family. We would listen to country music on the stereo on Sunday afternoons with my parents, but no one played an instrument. I remember listening to Elvis and Chuck Berry with my brother and sister. I went to dances with my older sister in the late 50s and I remember dancing the "Twist" with my sisters classmates. I had aunts, uncles and cousins that played music, though. I remember visiting my uncle one time and (See Link below for full Article)!”

“Kick back for a bit of music by Gary Lee Tolley, and you’ll learn a thing or two by the end of his set. “Hank Williams liked to tell stories with his music, and his songs will live on forever,” Gary says. “I look up to Hank so I try to do what he did—make unforgettable songs that tell a story people can relate to.” Gary lets influences like Hank and Elvis Presley work their way into his songwriting and performance. “Elvis is the king of rock ‘n’ roll. He’s the guy every Performer compares himself to. He was famous at 19, and he set the standard. Taking a little of Hank, a dash of Elvis, and mixing in some personal experience and creativity—Gary reaches out to his audiences, making them crave more. Gary’s song, “She’s Gone,” is a crowd favorite. Gary song “Storm Coming over the Mountain,” a tribute to people in the Armed Forces, has been on on Sirius Radio. Gary has recorded three CDs. “Tolley, said the song “She’s Gone” off his new CD “Life Travels on a One Way Street” by Gary Lee Tolley and Friends, appears to be a country music hit on the national Independent Music Chart. He’s crossing his fingers it will break into the top 10, proving this accomplishment can be done from someplace other than Nashville, Tenn. — in fact, it was done from Letart. Tolley lives in WV where he writes the songs he eventually records and takes on tour. He’s probably best known for writing and performing the song “Hills of West Virginia” which was part of the state’s “Come Home to West Virginia” ad campaign. Tolley describes his music as strictly Americana, with country and beach style with original tunes all blended with a bluegrass and rock-and-roll energy. Until Tolley retired from the military, music was mostly a hobby — that has all changed. He’s put out a gospel CD as well as a CD of beach music called, “Tybee Tyme” which ended up getting airpl”

“RadioIndy is pleased to present Gary Lee Tolley with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Tybee Tyme" Gary Lee Tolley is all over the board on his latest record, “Tybee Tyme.” Although most of the tracks have that Jimmy Buffet beach flare to them, there are also some nice hints of country and Irish sounds on the album. The seaside themes are most fitting on songs like “Tybee Island” and “I’ve Got Mexico.” Listen to any one of these tracks and you’ll swear you’re sitting on the sand listening to the waves rolling in. Tolley also features a cover of the Righteous Brothers classic, “Unchained Melody,” a song which Gary performs with his own style and grace. Don’t forget to check out “Poor Boys Delight” with its calming Celtic vibe. Tolley does offer an eclectic mix on “Tybee Tyme,” but any Buffet fan will dig it for sure. ”
