“What are your songs about? The lyrics are about various subjects. Dan writes all the lyrics. Our upcoming album titled “Ashes of Forgotten Gods”. All the lyrics will be about Greek, Roman, and Norse mythology and history. Who does the composing and writes the lyrics? I am the principle composer. Dan is the lyricist. Do you compose in a certain inviroment? I do my composing in my living room with a movie playing in the background.”

“Foreshadow is one of the heaviest bands represented on this list, but their is a nuance to their sound. It's not entirely death metal. The music also boast some prog rock flourishes and sensibilities. The palate of sound is wide, but bassist Maggot has the dexterity and the musicality to balance it out. Currently, the band is at work on a new album, and we can't wait to hear what this Florida-based band comes up with next.”

“Foreshadow is a band hailing from tampa florida, USA. Consists of 4 members Daniel “Corkscrew” McConaghy-vocals, Aaron Robinson-guitars, Jon McDonald-drums, and Maggot-Bass. The Stranger End of Death is theirs latest EP which was release last year 2012 by ForeShadow. This Ep contains 8 hellish tracks including 3 live tracks. Their music style are ranging from black, death, brutal, thrash and some heavy metal. I can say the track “The Meaning of Life” is the best song in this EP, perfectly done and excellent music style. For all metal heads who loves dimmu borgir, lamb of god, dark tranquility. This Foreshadow’s “The Stranger End of Death EP” is yours.”

“1. At The Gates-At War With Reality 2. The Haunted-Exit Wounds 3. Exmortis-Slave to the Sword 4. Vader-Tibi Et Igni 5. Anaal Nathrakh-Desideratum 6. Hellyeah-Blood for Blood 7. Noctem-Exilium 8. Machinehead-Blood Stone and Diamonds 9. Cannibal Corpse-Skeletal Domain 10. Aborted-Necrotic Manifesto”

“THE STRANGER END OF DEATH a great little EP. Maybe I shouldn't say little. It's a great EP. Now that it's behind you in a sense how do you feel about the finished work? I'm proud of it. It think it did really well. It showed our sound and how we evolved from our first album. And with this new lineup we have the sound is heavier and grittier. I'm just very proud of how it turned out.”

“How did each member come about their instrumental choice, and was it your first choice for an instrument? Maggot: I was going to be a drummer originally, before I became a bass player. There wasn’t a bass player in my friend’s band, so I filled the gap. Jon: Since the time I was five all I wanted to do was play the drums. I started learning with a drum pad practicing rudiments. I just played on a rubber pad until I was 12. My parents got me my first drum kit from a sears catalog. Dan: Being a vocalist wasn’t my first choice. I really wanted to play guitar. Since there wasn’t a shortage of guitar players, I went for being a vocalist. Aaron: Being a guitarist is what I have always wanted to be. When my dad bought the Randy Rhodes Tribute Album, I couldn't get enough of it. All I wanted to do is play guitar.”

“7. What made you guys decide to form a band? I wanted to form a metal band that didn’t restrict our sound to a single sub genre. We are big fans of power, thrash, death, and black metal. Why not try to blend them together.”

“Please introduce yourself and tell us some info about your band. Foreshadow is a musical group that blends the core genres of death metal, black metal, old school thrash metal, to create their own, unique sound, has begun to deliver a plethora of lyrical and melodic genius to the world. Reigning from their infamous hometown of Tampa, Florida, Foreshadow uses their vocal and instrumental influences to comment heavily upon the lies that have enveloped as truth amongst the general population. Influenced by such artists who include Slayer, Lamb of God, Nile, and Pantera, Foreshadow has completed their second release, a studio EP, “The Stranger End of Death”. The album will be released to fans and fellow listeners independently, and will deliver the group’s ideas and collective beliefs that are saturated in a sense of self empowerment and individuality.”

“Bio: Foreshadow began in January 2008. It was started with me and our former drummer. We were in a band together, and wanted to move in a different direction. So we started Foreshadow. Chris Billingsly became our bassist in August 2012. He came to us from another band in the Tampa, FL metal scene. Jon McDonald is our newest drummer. He has a vast amount experience. He was the drum tech for former Morbid Angel drummer Pete Sandoval. He has played in many awesome bands as well. Genre: We call ourselves just a metal band. We don’t feel our sound fits in any known subgenre. We are fans of power metal, as much as we are fans of black and death metal. We don’t limit ourselves to one thing. The genre of metal to me means independence from the conformity of general society.”

“Foreshadow, que, a pesar de la poca asistencia de público, resaltaron desde la llegada al bar con su sencillez y nobleza durante y después de la presentación. Los espectadores del evento quedaron más que satisfechos después de ver a estos excelentes músicos en tarima, con temas como “The Meaning of Life”, “Death by Medicine” y, en sí, todo su repertorio.”

“Foreshadow are a Florida band that has invigorated the metal scene of its home town Tampa and throughout the state beyond. Formed in 2008 the quartet of Daniel McConaghy (vocalist), Aaron Robinson (guitarist), Richard Hudson (drummer), and Perry Bassin (bassist), have shared stages with Dying Fetus and many more as well as beginning to emerge as regulars at festivals in the state. Their sound with its influences from the likes of Slayer, Metallica, Mudvayne, and Pantera is a strong and unpredictable mix which consistently on the evidence of their new EP, intrigues and keeps one enthralled. The band obviously does not bow down to convention and expectation musically and that can only be a powerful tool as they evolve and grow into their already impressive sound.”

“FORESHADOW/The Stranger End Of Death (Self Released) 8 tracks here with 2 being live. This band play a mix of thrash and some death metal and I like the guitar sound and tone and just the way the songs are played out. This isn’t some typical heard all before a million times type of band. The riffs sound like they have some thought behind them and are catchy and don’t sound like a million other bands neither. The singer is more in the death metal mode of a singer and that is OK as he growls and spits out the lyrics. Production is fine and dandy and this is just a cool band that is doing something a bit different than the norm and it works. Info: http://www.reverbnation.com/foreshadow76”

NOTA: 7.5 / 10”

“Foreshadow “The Stranger End of Death” 2012 5 track EP from this Florida, USA based band. I must admit at the very first listen to this I was not interested at all. But then I listened again and again. It began to grow on me. The first revelation was the vocalist’s approach. Kind of reminds me of Suparation. Next I realized that Rich Hudson is a really solid drummer. Guitars and Bass are heavy and at times very well thought out and written. I will not lie and say that when the band goes Southern Metal or Metalcore that I do get turned off. Other than that, “The Stranger End of Death” is a decent release. The last 2 minutes of “Meaning of Life” is pretty heavy. “Death by Medicine” is definitely the best track on this. Lyrics on this release are intelligent. Lose the Metalcore and Southern parts and I’d be in awe. But to each their own. Rating: 8 out of 10 ~Rob of Necrodemon ”

“FORESHADOW – Reveal EP Release Party Photos!January 19, 2012 Dover, Florida’s FORESHADOW have posted some photos from the release party of their debut EP entitled The Stranger End of Death. The show was held at Insomniacs in Port Richey, Florida on Jan 14th. The metal was on full display on the eve of the band’s debut EP being released. As in the studio, vocalist Dan “Corkscrew” McConaghy has the perfect death rasp working throughout hard hitters like “War Without End” and “Art of Hate”, and the blackened-death riffs coming from guitarist Aaron Robinson are indeed a revelation. The Stranger End of Death represents all your darkest fears. On the collection of utterly head slamming cuts, drummer Richard Hudson man handles his kit in a literal cacophony of destruction with bassist Perry Bassin effectively holding down the low end with a frantic conviction.Don’t miss FORESHADOW at this year’s installment of KAOS FEST in Indiana. “Rocket: When did you first get into singing? Dan: Funny story actually. Some people can sing, other people can’t carry a tune in a bucket. Then, there are people like me, those who can’t carry a tune in a damn 55g allon drum (laughs). I had been involved in musical performance since elementary school and had known that I wanted to be a musician, but I could never sing though. Me and some friends went to a Karaoke joint and they were all great singers. Like one of my buddies does a wicked mean Freddie Mercury impersination. So after awhile I’m sitting there, bored as fuck just wanting to go on that stage. So I said fuck it, signed up and did Walk by Pantera. I figured what’s the worst that’s gonna happen, I drop the soap on it? I fuckin NAILED IT. I had a bunch of people come up to me asking if I was in a band. That made me realize opportunities I hadn’t seen as possible before. (click on the link for complete interview) http://themetalden.com/index.php?p=25315”

Drummer Richard Hudson man handles his kit in a literal cacophony of destruction with bassist Perry Bassin effectively holding down the low end with a frantic conviction. Track #5 “Death By Medicine” is my personal favorite. It’s the band’s morbid interpretation of Romeo and Juliet tied to a heavy groove and rhythmic patterns going by at high speed like that of a falling guillotine blade. Without a doubt, I’d like to hear more from this young outfit as they continue to develop in the underground metal scene. I think a lot of promise is shown here for a first collection of songs, so expect bigger things for FORESHADOW.Until then, The Stranger End of Death will have to suffice all our cravings. ”

“Dover, Florida metal act FORESHADOW has issued a track breakdown for their forthcoming debut EP entitled The Stranger End of Death, thanks to guitarist Aaron Robinson: Track 1: “The Meaning of Life” “This song is about the difficulties we all share going through lifes trials and tribulations. Musically, the influence was a mixture of Budgie’s “Breadfan” meets Cradle of Filth. With the main riff paying homage to our black metal influence.” Track 5: “Death By Medicine” “This is our morbid interpretation of Romeo and Juliet. The music echoes this theme that reflects the story. This was done by continuously going from heavy groove rhythmic patterns to fast black metal riffs.” (for complete article here is the link) http://themetalden.com/index.php?p=24853 ”

“LeithalX-If fans listen to your songs would there be a common theme. AR: The common theme to our music is the poetic nature of life. Everything is encompased from life to death, love to hate, and the ever important sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll. LeithalX-Many bands in the scene today have very distinct styles and sounds. Who are some of your favorite current bands? AR: Dying Fetus, Dark Tranquility, Nile, and Machine Head LeithalX- Who were some of the bands musical idols growing up? AR: Iron Maiden, Pantera, Metallica, and Slayer. (click here for the rest of the article) http://www.chaoticriffsmagazine.com”

“FORESHADOW are set to unleash their EP entitled The Stranger End of Death coming on January 17th and the metal world is already buzzing about it. The lethal musical act recorded five studio tracks a year ago with Tony Gamalo at Spyder Studios. The band adds: “It was fantastic to work with such a great producer and engineer. Tony really captured our sound very well. The songs travel through various metal landscapes. Everything from brutal death and black metal influenced speed riffs, to brutal down tuned heavy groves. We also included three additional live tracks, recorded last February at a killer venue Gasoline Alley in Largo, FL”

“Rocket: Where were you born and raised? Aaron: I was born in New York City, and raised in New London, CT until I was twelve. My parents had the great idea of moving to Tampa, FL. I am sure I would be a completely different person growing up in Connecticut. I am sure I wouldn’t have discovered extreme metal. The Tampa Death Metal Scene in the 90′s was a big influence to me in my teen years. It was amazing to have so many great bands right in my back yard. Rocket: Do you come from a big family? Aaron: The household I grew up in was small. I am a only child, so it was just me and my parents. My father was away a lot sailing on oil tankers, so it was mostly just my mom and I. As far as my extended family it is about average. Unfortunately my family has shrunk in the last decade. The World War II era family members were the largest group. “Summon: Where did the band name come from? Aaron: Foreshadow has been a name that has been in Aaron's mind for a long time. In literature, Foreshadow is defined as "to represent, indicate, or typify beforehand." Aaron always felt it was the right word to define our metal sound. Summon: Who writes the music? Lyrics? Aaron: Aaron writes most of the music. Richard also contributes to some of the song writing. Perry is bringing some fresh ideas to the songs as well. Dan writes all lyrics. Summon: And where do the lyric ideas come from? Aaron: Everything from life to death, from war and peace. Summon: Tell me about some the songs on the latest CD? Aaron: Meaning of Life is about the struggle of day to day life. Art of Hate is about that one person who can really get under your skin. Death By Medicine is a more morbid interpretation of the great Shakespeare play "Romeo and Juliet" (link for full interview) http://blackenedhored.com/foreshadow ”

“Even with a new vocalist and bassist ,the chemistry with the band has never been better. Nate being the longest with 16 years and Dan with the least at 10. Which is quite the surprise since Dan is the youngest member of the band, at only 20 years old. When asked if his fellow band mates ever intimidate him because of the age difference, he says, "Yes, because Aaron, Nate, and Rich are musicians, I'm just the poet behind the music." And with lyrics like "It's a tale of two lovers, doomed from the start, banned by our blood, bonded by our hearts, I had another, but she stole my eye, I knew the taboo, but braved with the enemy, alone in the night, we tasted each other, a forbidden fruit, as sweet as poison, I fought to keep the love a secret, but alas a morbid wedding gift, a paradise lost, exile from eden." Which is from their song "Death by Medicine", it's no wonder why they're doing so well as a band. (link full interview) http://www.fullaccessmagazine.com/Foreshadow%20-%2008012011”

“How would you describe your style? Which bands influenced your music? We are a metal band. Other than just being a metal band, we encompass many different sub-genras of metal that we love. Everything from the melody driving Iron Maiden to the most extreme death metal band Cannible Corpse. Some of our biggest influencs are Dying Fetus, Slayer, Pantera, Fear Factory, Acid Bath, and Dark Tranquility. Why should a metalhead buy your demos/albums? There is something for every metal fan in our music. From the most downtune brutal rythms, to melodic guitar leads. From extreme blast beats and double bass to off time jazz beats. Our lyrics contain everything from horor movies to poetic interpretations. We don't just put ourselves in a box other than playing metal music. “The band Foreshadow hails from the Tampa Bay area of Florida. The band blends death and black metal along with old school thrash to achieve their aggressive sound. Musically they’ve been compared to bands like, Slayer, Pantera, and Terrorizer. Nations of Failure is the debut studio LP from the band. Maybe being so dark though is just what well-done black/dark-metal music should do. If that is the case then Foreshadow has nailed it.The highlight song from the album for me was track-5, “MK Ultra,” a thrash/speed metal song that hits on all cylinders. This band definitely has a message that they want to get out through their music and plan on spreading that message as they work on tour plans. If you’re an anarchist or in the camp that the world is F***ed-up, almost to the point of no return, then the band Foreshadow has got your back both with their message and music.”

C.W. Ross - Indie Music Stop

“I'm not exactly sure where Seffner, Florida is (and I'm a native) but one thing is for sure, it's one rung above hell judging by the band Foreshadow's latest album, Nations of Failure. Their combination of death metal, black metal, grind, and a bit of thrash sounds like every blender in the state being turned to puree at the same time...and I mean that as a compliment.I don't get to hear many records like this anymore, so it's nice to know that bands like this still exist. It's a lethal combination that jumps metal genres so quick your brain will be left spinning as your limbs are slowly broken song by song. When Foreshadow blast out, "It's a matter of survival," on "Freedom from Fascism," they're exactly right. Foreshadow might be part of the Florida death metal underground, but after listening to Nations of Failure they might not be there much longer.”

Paul Pop - First Coast News

“Florida based Foreshadow seems to be one of those sort of bands that are using the past thirty years of metal history to their own advantage. It seems like it, and they really have gotten it right. Mixing in some very well known styles of Death/Black and old school metal... then they seem to breath in a small bit of Metalcore into the mix with almost a Jazz sort of things... it is then we can honestly see that Foreshadow has come alive like Frankenstein after the electricity had animated his patchwork of dead corpse body parts. If these guys keep it all going on this path that they are on... they very well could slip into the realm of being legendary because of how they are doing things. They are not a foreshadowing nothing here... they are here and they are not going away any time soon. Foreshadow are one of those bands in metal, that just might be ones to watch. As sure as hell, I am going to. Rating: 8.8”
