“Exavier Rivas may be one of most unusual artists working in the realm of Ambient/Space Rock. His "Sunflashed" album is very different, a song-oriented project. As in songs they'd played in planet Neptune. While the crafty multi-instrumentalist has chosen a verse/chorus formula for this newest material, the bizarre, otherworldly noise created by his guitar synthesizer are a hitchhiker's guide to some cryptic cyber sounds of the future. The tones and textures from Riva's fretboard are stretched and compressed beyond recognition, then given a solid, hard-rocking four-on-the-floor from guest drummer Dave Russ. The ensuing tunes sound like bits of the heavens brought back down to earth, but with an intensity and volume usually shunned by lovers of celestial ambient scores. Like Todd Rundgren's Utopia and David Bowie's Heroes. Is a fusion of the real and surreal, blending hard-rock with sonic seasonings, that makes this disc worth hearing it at least once.”
"Hundreds of bands have played my venue, however I have never heard anything like Exavier Rivas before or after!..."
