“MOVEMENTS MCD - Seppure la band ami definirsi grindcore (ed in effetti è il genere predominante), nel sound di questa band si possono notare varie influenze, tra cui anche jazz e prog. Un azzardo forse spingersi così al limite dell’ascoltabile e del comprensibile, ma alla fine crediamo che i Dysmorfic abbiano ragione nel proseguire questo cammino (...) potrete scoprire tra le righe di questi cinque “movimenti” tante belle cose. Una su tutte è la genialità, che molte volte è incompresa, purtroppo.”

“MOVEMENTS MCD - Se amate le contaminazioni e le sperimentazioni della frangia più estrema della musica, questo ep dalla durata di appena sette minuti scarsi potrebbe incuriosirvi parecchio. I Dysmorfic di base si autodefiniscono grindcore, ma per quanto mi riguarda questo termine è proprio fuorviante per la loro proposta (...) dove i vari "Movement" sono uno sfogo di creatività che è in mano a soli due componenti, che suonano uno il basso fretless e l'altro la batteria. Il tasso tecnico è elevato per entrambi i musicisti, che si buttano in una sperimentazione che ha sicuramente l'urgenza del grindcore. E' indubbio che i Dysmorfic se ne freghino altamente di cosa vada o non vada oggigiorno nella musica estrema, e portino avanti un qualcosa di realmente originale”

“MOVEMENTS MCD - La band lombarda massacra orecchie e cervello con un devastante ep di cinque brani, diviso in altrettanti movimenti strumentali, a base di una dose di grindcore, pause jazz che guardano ai Primus e John Zorn, ritmiche impazzite, noise assordante, i Bologna Violenta nel cuore. Tecnica di primissima qualità, idee a profusione per un lavoro che sarà sicuramente apprezzato dai cultori del genere.”

“MOVEMENTS MCD - "C’è però da dire che il termine grindcore è solo una piccola parte del sound dei Dysmorfic, perchè spesso la band si lascia andare a generi come il jazz e il noise. Prendete l’ultima traccia, “Movement V” e sentite cosa fa il basso fretless di Thomas, ma anche la prima traccia, “Movement I” ha molto di jazz. Insomma, la band ama mescolare le carte in tavola e offre un qualcosa di unico e originale. Persino possiamo sentire echi di Primus in “Movement II”, ma portati nei territori grind tanto cari ai Dysmorfic…”

“MOVEMENTS MCD - la band dà ampio sfoggio di cosa voglia dire il termine "anarchia musicale", fottendosene di tutti gli schemi che abbiamo imparato in anni di ascolti metal. Un basso fretless davvero interessante per riffing e idee a profusione si sposa su un tappeto di batteria furioso. La band vuole trasmetterci violenza, ma non solo. Il termine grindcore, nel loro caso, sta forse più a rappresentare la velocità, la sintesi in brani cortissimi, ma non rappresenta a nostro avviso il girovagare tra i territori dell'avanguardia pura, che infatti è ben rappresentata. Si scorge qualcosa di distaccato ed estremamente intimo in questa musica, che sembra voglia più accontentare e far sfogare i suoi autori, rispetto al voler divulgare o condividere qualche messaggio particolare. Il presupposto è nobile: musica fatta per necessità e non per altri scopi. Questo dovrebbe essere l'intento primario di ogni musicista (...) alta preparazione e vastissima visione della musica e della composizio”

“MOVEMENTS MCD - Molto interessante il progetto Dysmorfic. Grindcore strumentale solo batteria e basso. Il risultato è un ep di 5 brani, o, movimenti, come vengono segnalati, che non si limitano al genere indicato. Alcuni stilemi sono mantenuti: la durata dei brani che non arriva a due minuti, la furia, la tecnica. A questo però va aggiunto che la scelta di avere solo due strumenti evidenzia passaggi che sfociano nel jazz. Un po’ modello John Zorn. Sarà il basso fretless, ma l’aria che si respira è quella free jazz. Avendo un assetto strumentale così basilare la produzione è buona, così come la profondità dei suoni e l’amalgama che non risulta essere mai rumorosa nonostante la velocità di esecuzione. Un disco sicuramente da ascoltare.”

“MOVEMENTS MCD - Ci troviamo di fronte a cinque brani in cui il basso fretless e la batteria alternano momenti ricchi di groove e pulsazioni ritmiche a sfuriate grind in una continua girandola di cambi di tempo e svolte brusche che ricordano l’approccio zorniano del costruire brevi suite nel volgere di poche battute. Ogni movimento ha la sua precisa personalità e dimostra senza troppi sforzi la preparazione dei due musicisti, che riescono a destreggiarsi con precisione in questa girandola di grind strumentale ai confini con il jazz, per lo meno quanto ad approccio. Nulla da eccepire, la formula funziona e personalmente ci convince proprio per la presenza di brani tanto brevi quanto completi e ben strutturati, ricchi di umori differenti e capaci di farsi ascoltare senza fatica anche da chi solitamente non sia un patito di grindcore. Per concludere va sottolineato come i suoni curati e la registrazione non impastata permettano di cogliere tutte le sfumature...”

“The unique lineup transforms the style into something more primitive with overgrown low frequencies. Here you have a chance to hear a bunch of dirty barbaric songs. Most of them have good intense riffs and stuctures (...) The bass guitar tone is so dirty and powerful (...) I like how those harsh vocals compliment the bass. “Tornano i miei beniamini Dysmorfic, questa volta con una tape split con Captain Three Leg, che presumo siano americani. Il lato Dysmorfic è la solita mattanza grindcore, con spunti più sperimentali. Il duo basso/batteria anche questa volta sa come farmi felice e per questo li ringrazio molto. Captain Three Leg invece si muovono su coordinate più powerviolence e ne ho gradito molto la proposta. Limitata in cento copie, non fatevela sfuggire!”

"Tape Sessions" begins with heavy static and it just has that feel where you know it's going to kick into something before it does. It's harsh screaming, chugga chugga guitar riffs and just good old fashioned grindcore. I remember when I was listening to bands primarily in this style- in the early 00's- and it was when cassettes were basically obsolete. I always wondered how some of those albums would translate to cassette and as Dysmorfic is proving right here, the answer is: good, very good. (...)

Avec Violent Headache et Captain Three Legs, ces italiens font partis des groupes à se prendre un minimum au sérieux et à inscrire leur grindcore dans le temps! La musique est bien entendu très rapide, tous les instruments sont interprétés humainement et la production tout en étant “raw as fuck” rend les riffs incisifs et implacables. Dysmorfic est un véritable geyser de lave en fusion, du début à la fin l’énergie ne redescend à aucun moment, et il n’y pas la moindre introduction bidon dans ce panel de titres !”

"PLAY GRIND NOT GUITARS LIVE ALBUM" Dysmorfic are an Italian grind band with nothing but bass and drums. They've been going since 1998 but in 2014 their guitar player departed but that didn't slow them down they just kept on trucking. This album features many good aspects of grind such as the lyrics about how fucked the world we live in is and the grimeyness of the music on this release. This was my first taste of Dysmorfic and I'll be spending the next few days exploring their back catalogue. "TAPE SESSIONS" CASSETTE - My friends, what would happen if we try to mix chainsaw and jackhammer, and put a speaker above all this stuff? And these guys from Italian band Dysmorfic, are already made it many years ago and but it in active use (...) I think as death metal fans, as grindcore fans, both will be interested in this release. The best tracks for me are “Greed” and “Nyab Cover”.

“DYSMORFIC / DEATH ON/OFF split EP - Viva Italia! Two soot bedraggled grind ogres from Italy share wax and violent tendencies here, one band tried and tested the other new so consider this split a nice albeit small sampled summation of the brawn in Italy's modest grind scene. First up are Dysmorfic - veterans who probably don't need much of an intro other than that alongside Cripple Bastards they are the most prolific and assiduous of the peninsulas bands. Those uninitiated to the bands endemic breed of scum-addled deathgrind slathered in thick brutish grime will run the risk of concussion should they not dodge those wide arced swipes of hellish din. Their side is split into two fully fleshed tracks complete with the consuming smear of necrotic tissue in this case represented by a particularly nefarious string routine that whilst good even at its weakest moments, now and again throbs through some seductive black magic.”

“DYSMORFIC/PROGERIA splitEP - I have to admit that I’ve never been a big fan of Mantova based Dysmorfic. These Italian grindcore fuckers have been around since 1999 and managed to cross their path with bands like Warsore, Ulcerrhoea, Repulsione and Population Reduction. Some time ago Tom sent me this new EP, a slab of vinyl shared with American grinders Progeria and I really have to say that this time Dysmorfic gained all my interest. First of all, the drums. They added variety to the patterns, speeding everything up a bit without sounding to heavy and avoiding the thick wall of bass drum pounds. Then, the guitar is lighter than before but with a strong and enjoyable buzzsaw effect added to it, making it sound raw and harsh, as it should be. Bass guitar is heavy and powerful and it’s used wisely. You can clearly hear the chords through the song, adding a cool bone system to the compositions. Vocals stick to a classic grunt, sometimes going in the lower area, but nothing too strange.”

“Now a bad review... DEATH ON/OFF / DYSMORFIC: Split: 7” Death On/Off are like Insect Warfare with a death metal lean. I’m not the most PC person in the world, but damn if these lyrics don’t kind of bother me. I don’t know if they are actually really homophobic and sexist or if this is just an attempt to be ironic and... I don’t know, shine a light on the issues. If the latter is the case, then they are just really bad at expressing opinions. Dysmorfic have even more of a death metal influence. I am not interested in any of this. Seriously this is awful. I’m sorry, I usually try to come up with good things about records even if I don’t like them, but I honestly see absolutely no redeeming characteristics in this record at all. –Ian Wise (Skull Crusher).”

“DYSMORFIC/ULCERRHOEA splitEP - This split EP shows you the absolute anti-social nature of grind core. Not only does it fucking crush with anti-socio-political lyrics, not only does it offend most people because of the pure unadulterated violent noisy attack that is on this record, but the sound quality is such that it will give you the shits. It is annoying as fuck noise style sound coming from Dysmorfic, and of course the same, brutally harsh scratchy Swedish grind core sound from Ulcerrhoea as we are used to from them. This album I can recommend for fans of Cripple Bastards, Reek Of Shits, Lycanthropy, Sewn Shut, etc, it is a great work of some really fucked up and pretty raw politically motivated grind. The music is fast, short songs that take about as long to listen to as it takes to read a review about them. Both of these bands play very anti-social grind, and thus it makes it relatively hard to access for fans outside the genre, who just like fast music.”

“Nuova uscita in casa Death On/Off, questa volta si tratta di uno split in compagnia dei Dysmorfic, formazione di lungo corso che condivide con i ferraresi l’amore per il grindcore e l’intransigenza sonora. Rispetto ai Death On/Off, però, il suono dei compagni di split appare più cupo e compresso, i brani durano maggiormente (si fa per dire, visto che stiamo comunque entro i due/tre minuti di lunghezza a traccia) e si vede una più spiccata deriva metal. Sull’altro lato, invece, resta in bella evidenza una filiazione diretta dall’ultracore e dalle componenti più estreme della scena hc. Si possono quindi osservare due differenti approcci a una comune matrice: il grindcore caro ai primi Napalm Death, qui rovesciato sull’ascoltatore senza tecnicismi o abbellimenti formali, ma riportato in vita con tutta la sua carica di nichilismo e brutalità. Nonostante il suono più marcio potrebbe lasciar supporre che la palma della cattiveria spetti ai Dysmorfic, la capacità di premere s”

“DYSMORFIC/PROGERIA SPLIT EP - (...) I dig this side a lot too. These guys are italians, they use fast, explosive, crusty tempos, definitely keeping the pressure on, yet rarely truly going into full blastbeat mode. I really love the intensely raw, scraping guitar sound, and the stubborn mincing riffage that often brings songs to a boiling point... Some of this stuff is very imitative of old school Napalm Death at times, similarly to Beer Corpse (Australia) which I also reviewed & interviewed recently. But Napalm Death worship is always a positive for me. I'll mention some nice choleric vocal blowups too. This stuff is not always totally tight-sounding but I'm really digging the whole volatile, nervy kind of energy. Another highly listenable bit of furious grindcore that complements Progeria's side quite well. Nice-looking, plain red slab of vinyl too, just an all around cool split release!”

“DEATH ON /OFF – DYSMORFIC ‘S/T’-7” (...) L’altro lato presenta invece due pezzi dei veterani Dysmorfic. I nostri, forti anche di un tour americano lo scorso anno e di numerose uscite nel loro curriculum, hanno raggiunto vette davvero confortanti. Anche in questo caso grind core, ma qui (se possibile) il livello di pesantezza, brutalità e marciume è ancora più alto. Innanzitutto la registrazione è molto più oscura e cavernosa rispetto ai Death On/off, conferendo al tutto ancora maggiore disperazione e malvagità. I nostri si muovono con passo deciso in territori che furono creati dagli onnipresenti Napalm Death, dai primissimi Carcass e da altri gruppi come Assuck. Anche in questo caso ci troviamo di fronte ad un gruppo dall’alto potenziale. Senza ulteriormente tergiversare in sbrodolamenti vari, fate vostro questo 7” se volete saggiare l’ottimo stato di salute della scena grind in questo primo scorcio di 2014. (Marco Pasini)”
