“Like all good sonic investigators, Drift Flaw takes a simple starting point: such as a drum groove, or a rich wash of synth pads. These elements pull and tease their way through paths leading upward and outward. The elements evolve and explore where the music will lead the listener. With the track "The Finality of Decay," a simple and fragile piano riff leads to wide, pulsing bass sounds, and spacious cavernous swirls of sound, often using gated arpeggiators. Unlike simple pop music, these tracks invite us to ascend the music, scale it, and lie back to enjoy the majestic vista. With the rising, soaring tones themselves, we're often transported to new places, and unexpected juxtapositions in our own mind -- some illuminating, and some haunting and jagged. The feeling is always one of relief -- relief that once again we can explore freely and without borders, throughout each piece.”
