Dre began her music career as a writer and illustrator for fellow Kindieartist, Wendy Gelsanliter, in 1998. After fine tuning her monkey noises she continued as a solo artist in 2003. Four CDs and two holiday singles later, Dre received three Parents’ Choice Awards and was chosen as a finalist by The John Lennon Songwriting Awards. Dre has been recognized as a “Mom of Reinvention” and safely adopted and raised several fish, three and a half cats and a dog.
Parent’s Choice has described her music as “intelligent, fun and slyly educational.”
The School Library Journal describes her “mellow folk-rock voice” as “reminiscent of Belinda Carlisle and Michelle Shocked”.
Dre’s music, lyrics and rollicking live performances provide Wiggles-weary parents and their kids an oasis of cool on the blighted landscape of pre-pubescent culture.
Two years ago, Dre founded her studio JAM (Junior Art & Music) in SoNo, CT. Here she marries her many loves, art+music+children, and creates programs, parties, concerts and camps for the public as well as an outreach program which serves local, underserved youth.
