Q: When you write, do you hear the music in your head, and then try to write it down? Do the lyrics drive the trip, or a shared journey of discovery?

A: Yes! Great question. When I write down a lyric I usually have a melody in my head. It's almost like they are inseparable. Sometimes that bad though since the melody doesn't always work or isn't that great and once it's in my head it's really hard to change. I have written different ways as far as the music goes. I'll usually sing it and record just the vocal and keep working with that until it sounds like I want, but I've also had people send me mostly finished music and I will write lyrics to the tune. It really is a little different experience every time.
