The Cosmonauts / Press

“'If You Wanna Leave' is an explosive experience...Overall, it is a superb song. The Cosmonauts only continue to astound!”

“Once again they played an absolute blinder and the assembled Pivo patrons showed their riotous admiration after every tune. Each song was perfectly crafted and displayed onstage for all to see and after another awesome live showing from them I can only say that I'm both truly glad...and honoured, to have snapped these guys up for a hellfire gig before one of the big guys snaps them up to one of the major labels. I can see it coming soon so mark my words. These guys will be HUGE.”

“The eclectic and creative music of the Edinburgh based band The Cosmonauts is soul-manifesting. Through a cleverly tangled weave of retro-classic and gothic music, this talented foursome has managed to blend a pure essence sound not quite heard in a while. While their influences are unmistakable, the music remains clearly their own. It is a masterful job to accomplish such an amazing feat. The Cosmonauts takes you into a psychodelic musical trance that leaves you wanting more.”

“This is an incredibly diverse band, probably the most diverse we’ve reviewed. The Cosmonauts really do offer something for everyone and we believe will constantly come up with the goods to please and surprise. Every artist we’ve put into the ‘Band of the Moment’ section we believe are heading for success but if The Cosmonauts aren’t a favoured choice of alternative music in the next few years then something’s seriously wrong. We’re certainly going to be following these with great interest and hope they make the trip to London for a gig soon.”

““Tell me” is a perfect opening track, a real kick-start for a gig or sunny Friday morning. It’s notable that vocalist Chris Bryce has a perfect rock’n roll voice. “Memoirs” is a groovy song with a catchy cello track. However, “Dawnbreaks” is my favorite piece. Its melody, backing vocals and easy going guitar riffs create a nice ensemble.”

“Try as I might, I still find it hard to compare the Cosmonauts with any of the other talented unsigned bands from our walls here at Hellfire and that can only be a good thing. They have so many varied sounds throughout their songs that I find myself drifting in turns from both cheery and singing, to stunned and silent, as old school classic rock riffs clash with a dark vein of early eighties punk undertones, and as I always say, if a song doesn't make you feel something then it ain't worth the paper it's written on...and the Cosmonauts seem to know how to press all the listeners emotion buttons at once.”

““Howl” really does deliver exactly what it says on the tin, from howling guitar solos and vocals this song is a sure fire werewolf of music. I was certainly not disappointed to feel the deep and dark vibes with all The Cosmonauts material, the electric cello really does take the music to places a bass guitar can only dream of. The retro feel is consistent giving and air of 60’s chic, an almost gothic Jefferson Airplane feel secretes itself nicely in the melodies.”

““The Cosmonauts” have produced an excellent EP. Each track is completely different from the others, yet they also seem to complement one and other. “The Cosmonauts” are not restricted to a single style of music. They have a range of both lyrical and instrumental ability which should appeal to all genres.”

“With such a wide taste over many decades their sound is a fine mixture of all and definately not something that many bands are doing.”
