"When Corinna sent this song to me to review she told me that she was trying for an old-school, authentic live sound - a little bit gospel, a little bit Motown and without the over-production that we often get confronted with these days. She has succeeded. From the opening bars of the guitar, its apparent that what you are getting here is an honest live sound. Corinna’s vocals, as always, are spot on - soulful, powerful and with that slightly raw rock edge. It's an interesting contrast with the two back up singers, both talented singers in their own right, who each have a very different quality to their voices. Tracey Misso’s deep alto with its lovely chocolatey tones is deliciously smooth. Clare Luisa’s soaring high notes offer a great counterpoint... In terms of the band, these guys are rock solid. Kanvar Nayer on drums, Sheldon Jones on bass and Jon Cook on guitar and steel - they have nailed the groove here."
"Corinna Jane can sing, damn her! With her evocative and bluesy Dusty Springfield-esque tone and the song’s sixties style sound, she took me all the way to Memphis. All you need to hear is the opening chord on a hard-right mixed guitar followed by CJ’s seemingly effortless opening notes and there you are, on Beale Street, eating Gus’ fried chicken, BBQ and black-eyed peas, complaining about the humidity. To Love Somebody is the second single from Corinna’s upcoming album... Originally written by Barry and Robin Gibb in 1967 for Otis Redding, it’s not a wonder that this song evokes those soul feelings. While Corinna plainly owns this version of the song one can hear echoes of Nina Simone’s 1969 take on it too - Kanvar Nayer’s drum feel sounds a lot like a pre-Miles Don Alias."

"'The River Song' is a joint release from Nova and Corinna Jane. The introduction is stripped-down with a warm electric guitar and Corinna's powerful voice. The song alternately rises and falls with the melody increasing in pitch and urgency with effortless grace. There is a particularly impressive transition from the vocal to a short guitar solo before the song finally ends. An epic and beautiful song that is reminiscent of Damien Rice and Lisa Hannigan - but rockier and edgier. 'Selfish' sees Nova pumping out a indie-rock track with vocal swapping and plenty of pace. This song has a nineties vibe, bright guitar based music with lots of skill and loads of hooks. These two songs are very different indeed, but both are brilliant."

“An album of changing moods, which takes the listener on a journey... From a hauntingly melodic start, through boppy and poppy to punk rock, each track has its own distinctive and individual flavour. Corinna Jane's voice is smooth as silk, with a wide range, suited to her obvious blues and soul influences. At times, I had goose pimples listening to her voice. There's a bit of Janis Joplin, as well as Tina Turner. Quiet passages, followed by loud, speak of a great potential for a gripping live performance. I really would like to listen to this kind of stuff in a grungy cellar bar. At no point does her voice sound strained, and the band is always under perfect control. No showing off. Clever, disciplined musicianship at those times so many modern "musicians" tend to get silly, and push themselves beyond their capabilities. Corinna Jane and her band obviously enjoy the music they make, and so do I.”

"If I were to have to pick a standout track from the mob, then this is the one that captures my attention and holds it, first Corinna Jane's vocals do this magic thing where they draw you in and make you listen - I'm not talking about an onslaught or anything like that, for here it is a thing of beauty. I like the fact that the song builds, there's a story being told - you're taken to a place where the guitars kick in rather nicely (did I mention that I am into guitar driven rock?). "What a voice! I think it is just my taste and may not be a universal truth (I'm really torn on this point) but I think on the more intense sections the singer should be on top just a little more.
