Nothing turns to something I should have seen it coming but it was moving way too fast Something turns to nothing like flowers in the winter I should have known it wouldn't last These are the opening lines in the title track of the latest album from Conrad Walz. It’s called “She Comes and Goes”, and it’s one of 12 hard hitting new tunes on the record. Though the song’s meaning could be literal, it also refers to the cyclical nature of things, the knowing that what is here today may be gone tomorrow... but could very well be back the next day. Well it’s not the next day, in fact it’s been five years since the last album, but Conrad Walz is back! With a set of songs that both rock AND roll, this stuff charms the ears and stirs the soul.

Conrad Walz is an accomplished singer/ songwriter/ musician from Calgary, Alberta , Canada. Though his style could be described as rootsy, sometimes bluesy, alternative country tinged, pop rock music, he prefers to just call it rock n roll. Suffice to say the song is king in Conrad’s world. Melodic and lyrical hooks ride atop rough edged riffs and grooves while engaging the listener with heartfelt emotion, humor and a touch of attitude. Always a prolific songwriter and intuitive musician, Conrad has undertaken many a musical endeavor over the years for the sheer pleasure of it more often than not. From campfire jams in Big Valley, Alberta to festival stages in Norway, Conrad’s passion for music has fueled the fire. In 2007, the compilation album, “Rivers and Rails, a tribute to Alberta” was released including the Walz track “Vulcan Girl”. A simple but infectious acoustic song, it garnered radio play and rave reviews from the people of Vulcan, Alberta and trekkies everywhere! In addition to his own album, 2008 will see the release of full length recordings by Swamp Donkey and WaxPoets, both of which Conrad is a member - (so much music, so little time!).

Like The Devil Does, Miss Quincy's second full length album is a moody collection of songs filled with dirty guitar licks, sweet gospel harmonies, swampy grooves, and stories of old time deal breakers. Miss Quincy and producer, Canadian roots & blues legend Tim Williams, set out to create an album with the gritty sound of tube amps, a tight rhythm section, and a band playing live-off-the-floor. Good musicians playing good music, it's the oldest trick in the book. A natural evolution from her debut album Your Mama Don’t Like Me (Folk/Traditional Recording of the Year, 2011 BC Indie Awards), this new record takes Miss Quincy's signature vocal prowess, her love affair with the electric guitar, and songwriting skills into new-found down and dirty territory. Like The Devil Does is both 4am at the whorehouse and the Sunday morning after. This year also marks the debut of Miss Quincy’s smokin' new band The Showdown. Featuring upright bass and drums, these ladies are armed with attitude, killer musicianship, and are without a doubt the hottest all-girl rhythm section around. Miss Quincy doesn't fit the classic girl singer/songwriter mold and The Showdown isn't your average all-girl band. You won’t find them singing pretty pages out of their diaries, instead you’ll find them getting down and rocking out with raunchy electric roots & blues. Unsuspecting audience members may find themselves suddenly shaking it on the dance floor, shouting out inappropriate comments, and buying the ladies rounds of drinks. Miss Quincy & The Showdown have never played a boring show and never intend to. Coming together from the far reaches of BC and Alberta, the band currently calls the road its home. Hitting the highway hard for 8 months of solid touring this year, The Showdown will be joining Miss Quincy for her 3rdtour of the UK and Europe as well as a cross Canada tour that will include many appearances on summer festival stages.
