"This year we decided to showcase our local talent and bring the best this area had to offer to the 67th Annual Giles County/Lions club Fair", said a representative of the Lions Club Entertainment Committee. The Derrick Newton Band will "Rock the House" beginning around 6:45 tomorrow night (Thursday) at the main stage. "Local band is winner in Lynnville talent contest....a four-member band, Ryctor, was named first place winner...The top prize winning songs performed by Ryctor were "Simple Man" by Lynyrd Skynyrd and "The Thunder Rolls" by Garth Brooks. The band consists of Giles Countians Cody Chapman on vocals and rhythm guitar, Jeremy Hamby on drums, J.R. Horn on lead guitar, and James Woods on bass guitar. The group was formed in November of last year."
