“Sex in the Desert and support act Chasin' Aces are breaking the mould and are dishing up a serve of loud and live original music at Parap Tavern's The Pickled Parrot. Young newcomers, Chasin' Aces, have only been on the circuit for about six months but are carving themselves a foothold with their versatile modern rock stylings. Bass player Jared Winter, formerly of Sweet Amber, said this was the band's fourth live outing. "This gig will be about getting Chasin' Aces out there and showing Darwin who we are," he said. Winter, 25, said the band's clean and catchy sound appealed to a broad audience and moved across the genre divide: "People that hear our stuff might hear other bands in the music be we like to think we do our own thing". But bigger than the exposure for the young musicians, is the importance of pushing original music into venues that usually play host to cover bands. "It's important for us as a band and as a whole scene to push these types of gigs," Winter said.”
