“ Courtesy photo Burton Tyler & the LoneStar Rage open the Denton Main Street Association’s Twilight Tunes concert series with a dose of Texas country tonight. The free music hits the downtown Square from 6:30 to 8 p.m. every Thursday in May and June. Bring a blanket or chairs, grab a meal from one of the many downtown eateries, and let the kids enjoy the bounce house. For more information, visit www. dentonmainstreet.org or call the event hotline at 940-349-8529. Coming up next week: a trio of Texas singers-songwriters — Jeff Glover, Joe Pat Hennen and Brian Houser, a.k.a. “Beerman.””
“And, that is just the beginning what you can catch on the arts scene in downtown this month of May. Thursday Twilight Tunes kicks off on Thursday, May 5th , from 6:30 – 8 p.m. on the west side of the Denton County Courthouse on the Square lawn. The first concert is featuring Texas Country music from Burton Tyler & the LoneStar Rage. It is the start to a 9-week concert series with a great line-up of local talent. Check out the Events page on this website for a complete schedule.”
"There’s nothing better than songwriters entertaining each other," added Burton Tyler, another songwriter who is also producing the event. "The only place you will find more songwriters than Texas is Nashville and half of them are from here anyway. From Willie Nelson to Merle Haggard, through Pat Green to Lyle Lovett, Texas has a legacy of songwriters. It’s the way we express ourselves as Texans. If Shakespeare was alive today, I bet he’d be a Texas songwriter."
