Broken Anatomy / Press

“The album begins with a short, powerfully dark intro piece, 'Cavernous' and it is clear from the outset, this is something out of the ordinary. When that leads into a track called 'Walk Of The Damned' it quickly sets about its job of destroying brain-cells. The sinister distorted guitar with guttural vocal roars and titanic-sized drumming is monolithic stuff....'Plains of Maltak' is pure power in every detail. The atmosphere reeks of raw emotion and musically it really doesn't sound like anything I have heard before.....what little music that it is on here is excellent, unique and different from anything I have heard in the past few years. The influences of bands as stylistically different from Soilent Green, Eyehategod to My Dying Bride may sound like a musical abortion on paper but somehow Samantha has made it work. This is really something you have to hear for yourself.....9/10.”

“Knowing that now there's a full live line-up ready to blow some brains on stage, this demo makes me think that we may witness here the birth of the first real new evolution of Doom/Death since it gave birth to Gothic Doom in the late 90's. (full review at link below)”

“Almost as if to throw a contrast into the mix, No Salvation is soon upon us and kicks into a track full of rolling beats, this time forming something which is surely going to have crowds circling and baying for blood. Showing off all of the influences at once, this seems to be a track which incorporates different elements, forming a track which can’t simply be described as doom metal, but instead adding elements which cause it to transcend to a new level, forming something else, something different, but something pretty darned good. “Our Pain Speaks continues the dark doom feel of the album , kicking into a sludgy mix of distorted guitar work and slow drumming, the whole mix forming a sludge which you can almost feel enveloping you. What’s most striking about this is the vocals, they manage to match the depth and power of more accepted doom metal bands, somehow powering up the track and turning it into something which is not only powerful, but also encourages you to listen so as not to miss anything out.”

“I managed to get rough cut of Broken Anatomy's album "A Shadow Deemed Worthy" and let me tell you, it shows lots of promise. Slick riffage from brainchild and multi-instrumentalist Samantha Smith (who also provides vox). Not the most intricate stuff ever, but not bad for a debut, especially since she's only been playing guitar for a few months! I look forward to future outputs.”

“[Broken Anatomy] is fucking fucktastic! there's some really unique shit in there”
