Bob Gaulke / Bio

I write songs and live in the Bronx. I'm passionate about songwriting and music and am heavily influenced by people like Caetano Veloso, John Cale, Serge Gainsbourg, Ian Dury, Fred Neil, and many others. I was based in Portland, OR for the early 00's where I worked with Eric Gregory in a band called Hypermarket. I wrote and staged two music theatre pieces in Portland ("Marcia: Tape Specialist" and "Larry"), then taught ESL in Brazil and Japan. I released an album of songs about my time in Japan called "hcm" ("Human Contact Man") that you can find on Spotify and Itunes. I continue to collaborate with other songwriters, including the fabulous Suely Mesquita of Brazil and the incredible Richard Von Sturmer of New Zealand. I'm currently playing around the NYC area with Matt Carrillo (keyboards and Sax) and several other talented musicians. I hope to have a new set of recordings mixed and mastered soon. Thanks for checking out my work!
