“An Interview with Reuben Vigil: My wish is that it keeps evolving while maintaining a high level of tradition.”

“New York -- ADRIAN NILES and his Cleveland-base band The Adrian Niles Band, has just been nominated for a Blues Forum CD Award for 2011. For his current CD ROLL & MOVE, featuring the single “Skylark.” Bluesforum.com is a blues community site on the web with over 450 registered members. Last month, it had over 7500 page views. As of today, ROLL & MOVE was voted onto their Top ten. ”

“Despite his obvious virtuosity, (frontman) Vigil is not a one-man show or grandstander… the Reloaders have a cohesive sound… “Love Comes Knocking” turns up the tempo with some flashy guitar work reminiscent of Stevie Ray Vaughn… the gloves come off in “Survive,” where Vigil channels Jimi Hendrix, complete with reverb, wah wah, and other electronic effects. Blues fans should give this album a serious listen.””

“He may have taken 30 years off, but Poway's Reuben Vigil, who goes by Big Shot Reub, is making up for lost time. The blues guitarist and singer/songwriter is fronting two trios, both called the Reloaders ---- one acoustic, the other electric. The latter has an album under its belt, too, "Roundhouse Blues," which was a nominee for Best Blues Album at the 2011 San Diego Music Awards. “San Diego's Big Shot Reub and the Reloaders, fronted by Reuben Vigil (center, performing here at the 2011 Adams Ave. Street Fair), also featuring 'Gutbucket' Bo Cantrell (standup bass) and Dan McDowell (harmonica), play two "Unplugged" shows at Coyote's Bar & Grill in Carlsbad Nov. 19 & 26. The band's "Roundhouse Blues" CD is also up for "Bluesforum CD of 2011." Go to www.bluesforum.com to vote.”

“Vigil, who formerly backed local blues artist Michele Lundeen, describes his musical influences as B.B. King, Carlos Santana, Eric Clapton, and Jimi Hendrix. But despite his obvious virtuosity, Vigil is not a one-man show or grandstander. The Reloaders have a cohesive sound, and Vigil shares the spotlight with Berklee-trained Hill and Lee, who has been playing professionally since the age of 16 (with, among other groups, the Bayou Brothers).”

“Perhaps the odd name refers to Reub Ruben Vigil, who with his companions from San Diego along The Reloader form. From this collaboration grew release 'Roundhouse Blues'.”

“Mark Twain said, “The difference between the right word and the almost right word is the difference between lightning and the lightning bug.” Precision counts, even in music! Case in point: Big Shot Reub and the Reloaders with their debut release “Roundhouse Blues.””

“Over the last several years I have done over 300+ Reviews, so needless to say, not a lot of music crosses my desk nowadays from Artists that I am not familiar with. There is however, the rare occasion that I find myself staring at a CD of an Artist for whom I have never heard of.”

“Parting Shot Across the Bow >>> This is a tour-de-force, first class lesson in rhythm, swing, rock and blues. This album clearly has all components and make up for many excellent listens. Author: Scott Thomas Stars: ***** 5 out of 5 Stars ***** ”

"San Diego's Big Shot Reub and the Reloaders is the type of band that can be found in corner blues bars across the United States."

“There's a red hot blues band out of San Diego, Ca. & their name is Big Shot Reub & The Reloaders. Fronted by guitarist/vocalist Reuben Vigil, this powerhouse trio really packs a punch. There is not a single track on their new CD, Roundhouse Blues, that I did'nt find in it's own way to be absolutely wonderful. I fell in love with the fantastic rhythms & riffs created by Reuben on guitar accompanied by the tight beats & bass lines by Ric Lee on drums & Jodie Hill on bass guitar. There is a multitude of sounds showcased on this CD. From the finger snappin' & toe tappin' rhythm of "So Much Inside Me", the beautiful spanish guitar flavor of "Viva Bracero" to the melodic & hypnotizing sound of "Celestial". This CD covers all the bases & I personally can't wait to hear what they have in store for us next. Well done y'all! ”

“Big Shot Reub and The Reloaders: Roundhouse Blues (Hat and Case Music) http://www.reverbnation.com/bigshotreubandthereloaders So I didn’t know what to expect here, the cover is an illustration of a ‘hitman’ complete with a smoking gun in hand, along with all the trappings of such a mob hit. Loud ? Death-Metal Blues ? Yet another SRV clone ? I had no idea…..well here goes. ”

“ROUNDHOUSE BLUES Big Shot Reub and The Reloaders Hat and Case Music Roundhouse Blues is a CD comprised of ten original tracks written and sung by guitarist vocalist, songwriter, Reuben Vigil. Musicians Jodie Hill on bass and Ric Lee on drums provide the solid rhythm section. All are accomplished musicians who have played together in various San Diego bands over the past few years. There's a good variety of tunes including the slow grinder, "I Don't Drink". where Vigil states, "I don't drink 'cause I'm alone, I drink 'cause you're not home." Track 5, entitled "C", is a haunting instrumental, where he plays some fine guitar solos. This CD was engineered and produced by Glen Laughlin (The Dickies, Cherry Bluestorms) at Roundhouse Recording (Studio City, North Hollywood). It was mastered by Multi Grammy Award Winner Charlie Watts (Fleetwood Mac/Rumors) at Wattsmixers in Hollywood. ~ Jack Naughton ”
