“Local musician to hold CD release party Ben Ratliff grew up in Pike County and recently spent time in Nashville, Tenn., recording his first album. Everyone who attends the Feb. 13 release party for the Ben Ratliff Band at Elmo & Busters south of Zebulon will get a copy of the local musician's first CD, EP V."This is the first CD we've ever done. We decided to put something together people can take home with them," said Ratliff. "To put a story to music and get people to relate to it is one of the coolest things on earth." Elmo & Busters owner Shelly Colwell said the event will last from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m., with music by the Ben Ratliff Band and a chance to get their CD signed by the band. The cover charge is $10. "I think we're really fortunate to have someone right here in our backyard who's so talented," said Colwell. "We may not be able to go to the places he's playing if things keep going for him like I hope they do. We need to hear him play as often as we can."”
