This event will be a new platform for establishing new traditions based on the strength of RVA's local culture and embrace the qualities that make this city and region great. The main purpose of this event is to raise funds for some of RVA's favorite non-profits. They may be small but all are doing great things to help add to the city's robust creative energy. RVA RISE 2014 Features: 3 Venue Spaces 6 Bands Free Social Toast Food Truck Court RVA Beer and Virginia Wine There are several unique elements that are being rolled out for this event: - instead of a ball drop at midnight, there will be an "RVA" logo RISE - a Social Toast with local beers, cider and Virginia wines will replace the standard midnight champagne toast - multiple venues and atmospheres for one low price - a live brass band procession at midnight Three Rooms of Live Music Eventspace: Mighty Joshua (Reggae) Beast Wellington (Vocal Jazz, Modern Covers) ArtSpace: The Roger Carroll Band (Jazz) My Son The Doctor (Eastern European, Balkan Folk) The Shop: Photosynthesizers (Hip Hop, Soul) Canary Oh Canary (Rock) Social Toast One of the unique twists we are taking on the NYE concept is a local beer, wine and cider Social Toast instead of a typical midnight champagne toast. Each guest receives a Social Toast drink ticket can be redeemed at any time during the night and is to be used to have a drink with a "stranger", or someone you did not know before that night. Building relationships is one of the keys to RVA's success as a community and we want to emphasize that going into the new year. Join Swaghive Entertainment & Special Friends in an evening of fundraising. All funds raised will be donated to benefit the victims of the Aurora Theater Shooting & their families. We have an entertaining event planned to show our love & concern for the victims of this senseless tragedy featuring some of Richmond, Virginia's most talented musical & visual artists. Featured & invited artists include singer/songwriters Jarrard Anthony, Nickey McMullen & Samantha Reed (of Beast Wellington), and a house band led by Swaghive Entertainment jazz recording artist, Bee Boisseau. The evening will also include raffles, door prizes, special guest DJ's, & an auction featuring the visual artwork of Richmond artist, Tamir Rock. This is sure to be a fund raising affair that you, your friends or family will not want to miss. All proceeds will be donated to the New Venture Fund, a 501(c)(3) public charity that funds relief projects. New Venture will distribute donations to organizations such as charities, churches and hospitals supporting the families of victims. In some instances, donations will go directly to families.
