Born in July 1988, in the garden parish, St Ann, Jamaica, Andre “Bas” Hinds-Allen is the leading R&B/Dancehall/Reggae artist of the generation that emerged in the wake of the influence of Beres Hammond, Ghost and a host of other artistes from the Lover’s Rock genre.
Bas studied at the York Castle High School, where he established a strong love and passion for Reggae and R&B music. Throughout his school years, Bas performed at several school shows and community parties, where his talent was met with great acceptance from his peers and school mates. At York Castle High, Bas absorbed the acute attention and mindset which subsequently led to him refining his own conceptual vocabulary and song writing skills.
The young, Bas after leaving high school began to embark on his musical path and formed several singing groups throughout his teenage life. Now in his 20’s, Bas has found home at Zee Squad Records, a music production and promotional organization, where he currently stands as CO-CEO/Producer and Recording Artiste alongside, Jermaine “DJ Quantum” Wilmot. Bas also through partnering with Boncraf “Skallah Fiend” Francis, created another production group, named “Boil N Chop Records”. This production group focuses on music and video production and sees Bas embarking on numerous new projects, where he has created a chronicle of R&B/Hip Hop singles and collaborations with several re-owned artistes.
Several hits such as “Love Is Like The Sunshine”, “Can’t Cut My Strings”, “She Want It” and “Don’t Be Afraid” has debuted Bas into the music industry where he now reaps the harvest of his works. Nonetheless, the young black activist continues to work assiduously, never taking his eyes from the prize which is to become a “positive driving force in this earth”, a ‘legend’ like one of his key idols, Bob Marley.
Bas’ music can be found in myriad of public and private music collections both in Jamaica and abroad, and also on several airwaves across the world including, Irie FM and ZIP FM.
Though music is his main priority, Bas revels in a wide spectrum of activities, including, basketball, researching and graphic designing while still enjoying an active nightlife, performing at clubs, dances and private parties. Bas can be found at the Steamatic Records recording studio in Winnetka, California writing songs, laying tracks or just holding a positive vibration with his peers.
