Ash Street Ramblers / Press

“Up next were the Ash Street Ramblers, a local band organized a couple decades ago by Valley Center resident and mandolin picker, Gary Pay. Gary sometimes plays the beautiful mandolin he built himself. The Ramblers have played for NCBFC several times before and always put on a terrific show with a unique mixture of original and classic selections covering most musical genre. Joining Gary on guitar was Ken Simon who has been with the group since it began. Kim Blackwell and her much appreciated violin virtuosity, contributed vocally to the bands exciting three part harmony. You have seen and heard Kim many times before, most recently with the “Lacemakers.” Kim is also a regular at the club’s Third Wednesday Jam. Playing dobro was Calvin Patton and Art Thompson rounded out the quintet on the bass. The Ramblers are frequent performers at Bates Nut Farm and are available for private parties. Goggle Ash Street Ramblers for additional information.”
