Barrio Tiger is an L.A. based garage punk band known for bringing the goods. After the demise of his beloved Juvee skateshop, Calixto Hernandez was losing his mind. "There ain't nothin' to do!" he cried so he hunted down Jimmy James, guitar slinger for kick ass rockers such as The Hangmen, The Comatones, and the Masons. Together they formed the nucleus of what would eventually become Barrio Tiger. After years of paying dues and sharpening teeth, Barrio Tiger has coalesced into a formidable beast with a monster rhythm section featuring Eastside powerhouse, Mark Benquechea, on drums and mean machine Pete Lyman holding down the thunder broom bass stick! Barrio Tiger has shared the stage with Boots Electric (Jesse Hughes from Eagles Of Death Metal), The Vibrators, The Fleshtones, Red Fang, The Upper Crust, The Humpers, The Hangmen, The Superbees, Scream, Crystal Antlers, Deadbolt, Fatso Jetson, Early Man and the legendary Mike Watt, among others. Recent festivals and shows included slots at SXSW, the Eagle Rock Music Festival, Reno's Sleazefest, the Las Vegas Shakedown, Echo Park Rising (an answer to the Sunset Junction fiasco), and the San Diego Music Thing festival in addition to hard touring up and down the west coast as well as the south and southwest. Barrio Tiger has just wrapped up production on their brand new debut full length record, "Ave Maria," produced and engineered by Ian MacGregor whose credits include some of the biggest names in the biz and mastered by non other than Barrio Tiger's own Grammy award winning mastering engineer, Pete Lyman! Look for Barrio Tiger's Ave Maria to be dropping on vinyl and digital in late Spring, 2016!
