St. Louis Dogs / Bio

The STL Dogs are playing their rock & funk sound around town in St. Louis and the surrounding area for all to enjoy. The band members have all been performing in the area for many years and are known to many from other bands.

Jimmy Kay - Drums/Vocals
Jim has been playing for his dinner since an early age, ranging
from North County to Florida. His influences are many with Buddy
Rich, Alan White, and Billy Cobham being a small representative sample. He met Andy when he joined Dancer in the 80's and thru the 90's they performed together in several bands after Dancer. He has also been performing with River City Blues since the turn of the century. Since 1995 he and Andy have been working in their studio producing 3 CDs of original music, with a 4th currently in progress.

Andy Snyder - Guitar/Vocals
Andy started his musical career at the age of 10 on the trumpet. Since there was a piano at home he also took lessons in theory on that instrument. Rock 'n' Roll led him to the organ and at 16 he picked up his first guitar. His early influences of Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Neil Young, Carlos Santana, and Peter Townsend, just to name a few, have led his guitar and improvisational style to where it is today. He played with fusion jazz and progressive rock in the 70's and was an original member of Dancer in 1986. Performing full-time with Dancer for 8 years and in several bands with Jim after Dancer thru the 90's, he began working on original material with Jim in 1995.

Al McFadden - Bass
Al started piano lessons at age 5, and stayed with the instrument for many years, never leaving it behind. He began drum lessons at age 11, played a whole year before returning to the piano. Joined the church choir at age 12 and dropped out at 16, but learned the concept of harmony and the theory of how music stirs the human soul. Received his first Bass guitar at age 16 and still has it today. Al has played with numerous people and bands, allowing him to continue developing his distinct style while gathering unique experiences. His most memorable time was the 5 years spent playing with the Melvin Turnage Band (1999-2004) two years of which was performing with the USO Tour. Al is very diverse with his skills. His first band was a Jimi Hendrix tribute band. Since then he has played Jazz, Fusion (his favorite), Classical Jazz, Jazz Rock, Reggae, Swing, Blues, R&B, Funk, Mo-town, Alternative, Heavy Metal, Rock, Armenian Jazz, Country, and even Polka. The list of influential people in music who he has met is equally impressive, Buddy Rich (a personal friend of one of his neighbors growing up), Staple Singers, Sister Sledge, Sheila E., George Duke, Gladys Knight, Jeffrey Osborne, Gil Scott Heron, Count Basie (he was nine and got to play chopsticks with him), The Platters, Victor Wooten, Steve Bailey, Oliver Sain, Theopolis Peoples, and Mae Wheeler.
