OpFor / Bio

Formed in the Philadelphia suburbs in 2008, OpFor has quickly become one of Lehigh Valley’s prominent progressive metal bands. Lead by Doug Michell’s ominous vocals , OpFor blends a thunderous bass line with blistering guitar solos and crushing drums. OpFor’s melodic growls appeal to metal fans and non-metal fans alike.

Finding influences in such bands as Tool, A Perfect Circle, Alice in Chains and Ozzy Osbourne, this progressive metal quartet looks to take their creative impulses further with the release of their self produced debut album sometime next year.

Lead guitarist/song writer Mike Jackman’s brain child of OpFor began at an early age. In early 2008 his vision materialized when he began jamming with co-worker, drummer Jay Leman . What began as a side project soon became a main focus. After six months of playing, the front man slot was filled by long time friend Doug Michell. Soon after, bassist Nick DeVito was brought in and this group of uniquely gifted self taught musicians was complete.
