Blood For Master conjures visions of pagan folklore and legend, human sacrifice as well as satanic ritual in a way that would please Anton LaVey, Aleister Crowley and Jim Jones of the Peoples Temple. By using elements of psychedelia, doom metal, sludge metal and black metal as a vehicle to recite stories of the Devil himself, Blood for Master pulls on the heart strings of any true metal fan. Originating in Austin Texas since the summer of 2009 Blood for Master has called the Red River district home. Being a true four piece metal band and having a huge respect for bands like Deep Purple, Pentagram, Hawkwind and Mercyful Fate truly sets Blood for Master apart from other Texas metal bands. The sermon style of vocal delivery by front man Aaron Blake and the blistering guitar passages of Rick McConnell are truly intensified by the the hypnotic and sometimes chaotic rhythm section produced by James Harwood (Drums) and Bryan Bowers (Bass). With one self titled EP on the books and plans to get back in the studio this winter Blood for Master delivers left handed works of art far beyond the boundaries of conventional Heavy Metal.
Matt Spilman from Rockthoughts.com writes, "BLOOD FOR MASTER make proto space metal from Austin, Texas. Aaron’s vocals have that dark echo effect that remind me a little bit of In the Arms of God era Pepper Keenan (‘It Is That Way’).
And the music definitely follows a kind of prog-y, trance-y, doom-y blend of space metal mayhem that reminds me of bands like Hawkwind, Cathedral, Dream Theater, and Candlemass.
