Niki Darling is a rising star in the world of music her feminine, rock star style and good looks make her an asset to any vocal music production. Raised in Queens New York, the natural beauty’s exotic features are a unique mix of Guyanese, Native American and German ancestry. Nicole’s early musical influences were her father’s heroes: James Brown, David Bowie, and Queen. But her greatest musical influence by far is Prince, followed by 1990’s pop/rock talent like No doubt, Green day, NIN.
Niki studied vocal music and theater at the same New York Professional Performing Arts High School. As a dancer, Niki trained with acclaimed choreographer Luigi, who worked with iconic stars such as Madonna and Liza Minelli. Today, Nicole’s classical training in dance lets her finds her own, natural rhythm in nearly every contemporary style.
Niki fronts six-piece, pop/rock/hip-hop ensemble, Pants Velour. The group enjoys a strong NYC following, selling out shows at Webster Hall, and performing at venues including Bowery Poetry Club, Arlene’s Grocery, Pianos, Drom, Rock & Roll Hot D.C., North Star Bar Phily and more.
As a solo artist, Nicole’s worked with well-known pop and R&B producers including Rufus Blaque of T.U.G. Entertainment, Aaron Freedom Lyles, and Soul G who produced top acts like Christina Aquilera, Puff Daddy, Destiny’s Child and Omarion.
She has recently performed as solo vocalist of her new band Niki Darling and The Sound at various NYC venues including, Le Poisson Rouge, Barracuda, Gospel Uptown, Joe’s Pub, Highline Ballroom, S.O.B.s, Danny Simmons Block Party, Cameo Lounge, Highline Ballroom and The Triad.
