keith ogborne DRUMMER ANTHOLOGY / Bio

KEITH OGBORNE drums and percussion
Keith Ogborne has been teaching and playing drums for over 40 years now.
Growing up in Scarborough a suburb of Toronto in the Golden Years of rock Keith caught the music bug. Early influences were Jimi Hendrix, Cream, Led Zeppelin, and the three great drummers that drove these super groups. Mitch Mitchell is still a fav to this today. It was in the early years of high school were Keith honed his craft playing with many great musicians at this time. The first PRO band that keith played in was a keyboard based trio called JACOB featuring Ross Beatty and Dez Mcnuff covering doors tunes and the 'BAND'S' chest fever plus originals. After the members went their own separate, Keith formed 'LARKSPUR' which featured the twin lead guitars of Mike Richmond and Martin Rickert as well as the compelling voice of Lead singer Brian Stoliker. LARKSPUR was rounded out with the great bass playing of Paul Taylor. The band enjoyed local success playing the toronto high school dance circuit.

Once again band members choose new paths and Keith, Martin, and Paul formed a new band called GUARDIAN which featured hammond B3 wiz Craig MacDonald and a new Lead singer from Edmonton Ian Dunlop. Guardian concentrated on progressive rock originals.

After GUARDIAN disbanded Keith played with a number of local bands and did studio sessions at PHASE ONE and MANTA. Keith and also taught percussion at a number of local music schools. While teaching at the Gus Armitage school of music keith played a number of jazz gigs with the GUS ARMITAGE BIG BAND. Highlight gigs were at The Beaches jazz festival and Harbourfront concerts.

Keith also held down the drummers throne for a short while with a LATIN BAND called MAYA doing originals and santana covers.

Recently Keith returned to music fulltime. For the past 5 years keith has been active in the local GTA music scene playing with VEGAS BEACH and recorded an original CD with VALERIE AND THE DREAMCATCHERS.
