A blend of acoustic rock and World styles, the Adrian West Trio will treat you to an infectious mix of originals, covers and instrumentals featuring vocal harmonies, guitar, electric violin, bass, drums, and elegant use of live "looping”.
Adrian started playing violin at the age of four and in his teens studied classical violin at the McGill Conservatory of Music in Montreal. He later learned to play drums, guitar and developed his vocal and songwriting technique.
Adrian moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1995. He's now focused on writing and performing his own music but as a sideman violinist supporting local Bay Area bands, he played some of the area's better known venues including the Fillmore, Yoshi's SF (main stage), Slim’s, The Independent and The Sweetwater.
Eventually, Adrian began performing solo, combining violin, guitar, mandolin, beatboxing and vocals in a live performance that relied heavily on 'looping'. He recorded an all-instrumental demo CD called The One-Man String Quartet which got airplay on Keller Williams' nationally syndicated radio show Keller's Cellar, as well as on Derk Richardson's Hear and Now show on KPFA in Berkeley,
Around 2005 he formed the Adrian West Trio and in 2010 he released his first full-length CD Chameleons and Butterflies. When his Trio performs live, Adrian switches off between voice, violin, and electric guitar, and weaves live looping of all three into his performance, backed by a rock solid rhythm section. The band sometimes also performs covers by the likes of Coldplay, Peter Gabriel, Leonard Cohen, Paul Simon, Joe Jackson, David Bowie, Michael Jackson, The Beatles, Dave Brubeck, Maurice Ravel, Bach, as well as some rockin' Irish Reels.
