Yea I know my last name is strange but I'm used it. It's Roose like moose, goose, loose and so on.
I grew up in a musical family and my grandmother taught me to play guitar when I was a kid. There was always something musical going on when I was growing up. Grandma and her sisters and brother were always playing and singing. My dad and my brother and I played all the time at home. Eventully dad had a bluegrass band and we followed along. My dad still has a band and my brother went on to be an eight state banjo champion as well as one of the founding members of the John D. Hale Band.
I've always loved music and the stories behind the songs so I gravitated toward singer/songwriters ever since I can remember. I used to go through my dads albums and pull out John Denver, Jim Croce, and Gorden Lightfoot and try to play along with them.
I'm one of those that what you see is what you get. I'm very low budget. I am the booking agent, van driver, guitar tech, songwriter, recording engineer, producer, sound man, lead singer, and band. I do all the recording in my basement studio and all the production is done here at home. I live 30 minutes from the nearest quicky mart so I have to self sufficent. That is why if you hear a stool squeak or my daughter running in the kitchen (which is directly above the studio) in the recordings don't be surprised. I like to keep things real. No tricks. It has to be about the song. The song tells the story and the music is life. It's not always perfect but I'm making the best of it.
So all that said, I hope you get the chance to come and see a live show, enjoy the music and all stories behind music!
