The Whistlig Wolves have quickly become a favorite on the New York old-time and folk mucis scene, playing packed houses and sharing the stage with national acts like Bruce Molsky and Alice Gerrard.
THE WHISTLING WOLVES - Hot fiddle tunes, back porch torch songs, sweet waltzes, snappy cakewalks, jug band blues and shape note hymns – this is the stuff of The Whistling Wolves. Coming from diverse backgrounds in old-time, blues, folk, and rock 'n roll, and thanks to one member's obscenely large collection of 78s, the group spent the past four years digging deep into the archives of American music, bringing to the stage many long-forgotten gems. The Wolves features the ukulele, fiddle, vocals and two-time world championship whistling of EMILY EAGEN, the tasty harmonica, uke and bass singing of TRIP HENDERSON, the skillful pickin’ and singing of CHRIS Q. MURPHY on vocals, banjo, mandolin and guitar; bluegrass luminary DANNY WEISS singing, playing great guitar, and the rock bottom bass playing of Jay Buchanan. Look for the debut album in 2014.
